Curious how many people have broken axles and if there seems to be a trend of how much power or if its classic wheel hop that breaks them. i tried searching but didnt see any specifics. I only know of i think it was Lund breaking them NA

I believe Lethal broke an axle making stock power but on drag radials.

Knowing this I installed GForce 850's as soon as I put drag radials on mine. Not sure if it was necessary but I wanted to reduce the chance of one breaking.

I thought they broke them after tune.. i know the made a bunch of passes do we know if it was wheel hop related or can the axles really not hold stock power? i havent heard of anyone else breaking them.

It might have been after a tune. I do not recall exactly. I did not recall them making a bunch of passes before the axle broke. Not sure if the cause was rotational force or wheel hop related. True that relative few people have broke an axle. I did not want to be one of them.

How many 2018s have been to the track on drag radials/slicks with stock axles?

I asked Jared from Lethal about it and he said the driver side halfshaft broke
on stock calibration with radials in drag mode.

from what ive heard the shifts are so aggressive in drag mode, the combination of high traction at the strip and a tire did it in.

I'm waiting to see what they use for the 2019 GT500 axles. i'm sure they will be stronger and less expensive than the aftermarket stuff out there.

GT500 may not have an 8.8 differential. I bought mine last wednesday. It's in the shop now having the 1500 HP Ford Racing axles put in.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with the weight difference between stock axles and the aftermarket ones.

The Ford Racing axles are each 9 pounds heavier than the stock ones.

thats pretty heavy, i wonder how that affects acceleration? is that like unsprung weight or is that not enough to matter?

It is rotational weight but the effects aren't as much as say wheels being 9lbs heavier. The weight is at the center mass so the centrifugal force doesn't effect it as much. Could you notice a slight difference? Sure. Will it really matter much? Maybe .05 to .1 in a 1/4 mile if that. Its worth the extra weight for the safety and reliability at a certain threshold of power and track use. I personally don't go to the track but a couple times a year and have the auto so I won't change them at this level. If I decide to track more, especially on radials and power adder I would definitely put them on the list of must have items.
