I dropped the pan and replaced the filter, my car 41000km fluid light brown but no smell. I let the trans drain for three days and removed about 7 l.
New filter in and pan on - I then built a dipstick with a 6mm braided brake line.
i made my home made dipstick and used a small speedo cable as the dipstick ..with the pan off I could see how far the yellow plastic dipstick protruded I then measured down from the trans case and marked the hot and the cold levels ..I then extrapolated this to my new speedo dipstick.
All back together new ATF ( Mercon LV) the problem is now the new fluid is so clean I can’t see it on on my dipstick ..I have now ceramic coated in white the last 6cm of my dipstick ..my question is now critical is fluid level in real terms?
the car shifts nice in all gears and no problems
when I opened the drain plug some fluid drained out so,it was impossible to measure the exact amount to refill so I guessed it.
checking the trans fluid with engine hot and running when it’s on jack stands is not an option so hence my dipstick ( in USA you can buy this kit) but now I can’t be sure levels are precise
do I need to be concerned ?
