I have looked in the users manual but I cannot find any reference to the green arrow that flashes beside the odometer.

I imagine it may be a "shift to a higher gear" indicator?

I have never driven a 6 speed, only 5 & 4 speeds. At approx 78 Klms in 5th the green arrows flashes, surely it not asking for top / cruise gear at such low klms per hour?

It's just fords ecomode. If you go through the trip computer to average consumption and arrow right it will give you a more detailed breakdown.

Are you sure they didn't install your in-dash blinker light wrong way? :D You are ok to shift 5-6 at 78km/h. In fact you can shift even earlier at around 70km/h.

I had this on my Focus ST, it was telling you when to shift for best fuel economy. However my Stang doesn't do this, maybe it's something to do with the newer models which have sync 3, or my dealer turned it off for me knowing what I'm like hahahah

The green up arrow is recommending shift points for fuel economy - my wife's Focus has the same feature - although you can turn it off on the Focus.

Can you take a photo of this? I'm intrigued, never seen it (although I don't drive for economy)

Thanks everyone for the input, much appreciated.

The green arrow appears after the last number, odometer. I will take a photo of it and post in the next few days.

Interesting, mine doesn't have this.

My Ranger has it though, so did my old Focus.

Mine does it too. My Wife's Hyundai has the feature too except it tells her which gear she should be in.
