I'm sure some I've seen it, maybe not - but Ford recreated the 1909 Intercontinental Race that was initially accomplished with a Model T, using the EV ME SUV.
Travel was from New York to Seattle.

The event was to prove that EV's are capable in an ICE world.
So you be the judge, here's the Cliff Notes results of that fantastical journey:
Is forward progression to take more time and energy in getting from Point A to Point B?
Both articles are not clear on how the ME was being recharged. It's very vague and there's no discussion that the ME was easily plugged in at rest stops/hotels/motels along the route OR if there was a mobile charging station following along. There also isn't any info as to what (if any) obstacles the ME Team ran into along the route.
It's also not clear why the ME route chosen was so much longer - was it because of the lack of charging stations?
Regardless of such a recreation and whether it was Ford doing it or not - in all fairness, wouldn't a recreation be using the same route and miles as the Model T did in 1909 to really see how an EV could compare and/or compete?
Wouldn't using the same route also provide critical data as to IF more EV charging stations are needed across the country for EV's to "fuel up" if comparing their abilities to ICE?
Discuss.

- The distance was not the same (who knows why). The original distance driven by the Model T in 1909 was 4,106 miles.
- The distance chosen by the ME Team was 6,500 miles.
- The Model T accomplished the journey in 23 days.
- The ME completed it in 50 days.
