Pretty easy to confirm whether this is a genuine GT350 engine as all any interested person has to do is ask for the VIN on the block and then confirm the VIN with our great friends at Ford Performance.

I would suggest that once the VIN is obtained that FP would help out a serious party.

I wonder what they did with the transmission as would have been nice to have that go with the engine and of course the tranny also has a matching VIN stamped into the transmission case just as with the engine block.

It's easily worth $10k and they may get down to that. It started at $20k and now it's down to $17k.

But yeah, for that money, I'd want some assurances that it'd fire right up when it gets all hooked back up.
This would be pretty cool if this engine came out of one of the 2015MY 50th Anniversary GT350 Shelby's and with only 137 cars built for the 2015MY that would be a real find IMO but chances are this is a 2016 engine based on pure production numbers.

Imagine taking this and putting it in an original 1965 gt350
I was thinking exactly the same thing as you.

Throw this engine into a '65 Fastback 2+2 would be outstanding along with a 3.89 Detroit Locker rear end with side exhaust.

What a combination that would be!

;)

The engine would sound great and make a lot of power but no way would I cut the shock towers out of a 1965 GT350.

Agreed, with the way values of '65 GT350's are someone would be crazy to start messing with a first year Shelby.

Having said that modifying a '65 Mustang Fastback 2+2 would not bother me one bit.

I have done a bit of checking and this engine seems to be legitimate with the VIN ending in G5520282 so it is clearly a 2016 engine but the seller says that there is no VIN on the engine block pad which does not make any sense to me so that part would concern me somewhat.

All Boss 302 and GT350 cars have the VIN stamped into the block pad and of course the tranny as well.

Not sure if the seller is looking in the right area but this engine should be stamped unless for some reason this is a "Pre Production" unit that may not have been stamped but having been around many of them in the past all the ones I have looked at were also stamped with a VIN.

It could also be a replacement engine. I thought I read several new cars were delivered with bad engines.

Why wouldn't he sell it with the matching ECM?

It's possible this is the engine out of the car Dean Martin built at KohR Motorsports. He's running a GT350 with a Coyote for World Challenge.

Well, at least we know there are only 4,999 GT350's left...LOL! I'd say it's pretty legit, but I'd be more concerned about the shape of the engine itself. So, I buy this one and save myself $2k over buying from Ford and I get no warranty. Sorry...doesn't sound like a good tradeoff to me.
Buy from ford? Ford is not selling a crate Voodoo.
