I have a Gen 2 5.0 with high miles, i regularly do maintenance but i do want to go boost in the near future but im scared of something breaking right away. Is there a specific rebuild kit that i can get first?

Gen 2 engine isn't exactly weak. If you want, call up your favorite Mustang shop for a set of forged pistons/rods, and then you want to get your heads rebuilt, new timing set, bolts, gaskets, oil pump gears, block will likely need cleaned up....$$$$

so would a bottom end rebuild be more of the priority?

How much boost/hp do you plan on running? If it's under 14psi/800hp I would just run the stock engine.

Also, when you say your engine has high miles what do you mean 80k? 120k? 180k?

I want to be running around 8-9 psi with a 120mm pulley, the car has 153k.
