I've been looking into getting a CAI for my 15 GT but I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with them with daily driving, specifically with them getting wet in the rain or car washes? I've noticed that the hood vent is right above the intake so it seems like water would drain into the engine bay right onto the filter. Any input is appreciated!

No unless you force a hose in that vent or drive your car into a lake, you got nothing to worry about

There are closed box versions of CAIs for this car, which pull air in from the stock location, and they shouldn't change anything in regard to hydro locking. It's only when you have a filter picking up air in a location like the lower fender well that becomes a worry, and even at that you probably have to submerge it.

I doubt enough water comes in the heat extractors to do anything. After a car wash I might have a few water drops on the engine but nothing of consequence.

Yea, even with the MMR, which puts the filter down in the fender well, you would have to drive through two feet of water to submerge the filter.

Factory intake is CAI anyway but it's not my money so I have no control over how to spend it.

Would an uncovered intake still be fine, like the JLT or Steeda?

Do yourself a favor and get the tune to go with your CAI. Don't ask me what's best, because I have only used Steeda. I'm very happy with Steeda but won't claim it's the best.

I agree, the CAI by itself wont change anything without a tune allowing more airflow. But thats just me.

On their website they say that the Steeda CAI adds 22 whp and 18 wtq without a tune. Is that bull? This is my first V8 car and I have no idea how much parts add. I come from the Subaru world so it's a whole other game over there.

I'm sure that is true, but you need the tune to go with it for max effect.
