Most likely that Turbo V8, they need to start thinking more for the EPA regulations.

It was a test engine for fuel economy in the F150 but was abandoned after they hit their targets by using DI on the Coyote

Power and economy were actually improved sticking with 5.0L (both evaluated with the system fuel systems).
