3.73 to 3.31 NO SUPERCHARGING

TO MY FELLOW MEMBERS, I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAVE CHANGED THEIR GEARING AND THEIR AFTER THOUGHTS. ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS (BETTER GAS MILEAGE), WERE THERE ANY REGRETS. PROS AND CONS TO HAVING CHANGED. I PURCHASED A PP GT AND LOVE THE EXTRAS BUT QUESTIONING THE GEARING. I SEE WHY ONE WOULD GO THIS ROUTE IF SUPERCHARGING. THANKS FOR LETTING PICK YOUR MIND.

LOL. I went the middle ground with 3.55's. Can't be happier. Works great for stock setup, commuting, hwy, traffic, etc... good middle ground.

Just go test drive a GT with 3.31's and see for yourself.:shrug:

3.31's make the car feel sluggish at stock power levels, imo. The coyote motor is soft down low by nature.

I wanted to go 3.31 (eventually) to stay more time in one gear...sorta how cars use to be when they had lots of low end torque. I have a 3.55 currently.

Am I having the wrong mindset? Seems everyone wants a higher gear.

3.31 is a gear the motor will fight. 3.55 will be a bit of a break even point. 3.73 is a gear that is in favor of making the motors job easier.

That's how I've always experienced/thought about gear sizes. Never been happy with anything less then 3.73

Use the money towards a GT350 IM and headers and rev that thing up to 7800. 373 gears are perfect for that.

3.15s here. I like the long gears for highway driving. If I need power I just downshift. The 3.7 likes to rev. I'm sure the Coyote doesn't mind either. If I had shorter gears, around town driving might make me feel like I'm Lewis Hamilton, which is not always what I want.

Personally I like the 3.73 and get 27mpg on the hwy. I also do 1st-3rd-5th shifting a lot around town.

Personal preference has a lot to do with it, best you try to drive a 3.31 car and see for yourself. I have 3.73 gears and 1st/2nd gear are truly a challenge with the supercharger but I would not change them because the 3rd/4th gear pulls put a huge smile on my face. FYI - I felt that way about the gears even before the supercharger install.

I have 3.73's, 1st gear is too short. I can start out in 2nd if I want which helps, but 3.55's woud be better for a "fast daily driver".

I just wish they gave you the option of 3.55 or 3.73's with the PP.

Obviously for all out performance off the line, the 3.73's are better, but for a more well rounded car, I'd rather the 3.55's any day.

with 3.31, you won't need to shift as much. And above 60mph the car is comfortable in 6th gear, meaning the overall gearing is not too tall.

I don't think the car is sluggish with 3.31 as someone states. Of course, at the same rpm, 3.73 is quicker. But at the same mph, you could be one gear lower with 3.31 and overall it may pull harder.
