There is no break-in needed with a modular motor.

Got my TY with 44 miles on it. At mile 45 I was at WOT on an on ramp going way faster than I should admit in writing. Just hit 1050 miles yesterday. She's good to go. Will do an oil change Monday.

The great thing about using that technique, which is quite similar to breaking in a 2-cycle motor quickly, is that you can easily monitor the progress. If you're going this route, I'd recommend to use Sport+ or Track mode to get the full effect.

I'd also say, this technique is much more viable today than in the past, where production engine tolerances weren't quite as consistent as they are today. While for racing engines, they would be quite selective with their parts to ensure they wouldn't have issues.

That said, while I didn't use this exact technique, I have loaded the engine nice and hard a number of times since I got it. Not crazy levels, just nice solid runs through the gears (at least to respectable speeds) to make sure it was getting proper loading. I have 750 miles so far, and based on it's response to the pedal, I'm happy.

the manual says to vary throttle frequently and not to labor the engine, so dont lug around and open it up! It also says avoid high speeds the first thousand miles but hey that is open to interpretation haha. Not a very restrictive break in period leading me to believe it really doesn't need a particularly delicate one. Just be careful with summer tires in the cold, if it applies to you

Just broke 1k and finally getting a chance to REALLY open her up, but unfortunately this cold ass weather has been the limiting factor. Barely had a chance to get her into sport mode :(
