Officially ordered 4/21/2022. Showed up today at dealer. I went to the dealer on 4/08/2022 and told him exactly what I wanted and he said he'd order it. Officially 4/21/2022 according to Ford's tracking system--which sucks.
6 months.
I ordered another one from the dealer that my other boss co-owns, that order was placed 8/18 I think it was. It showed up today too. Same exact car. I think they did a different priority level, or maybe it was one that someone else ordered and didn't pick up. Dunno. He came back to the shop, not 5 minutes after the local dealer called.
Pricewise the prior one (4/2022) is considerably less expensive. Interest is also locked in. The other one (my boss's dealer) is about $3400 more but I can get X plan on it, BUT interest is going to be higher. So I pay more OTD, and have a higher interest rate. That option is out. That's good for them, because they can now sell it to anyone else, for today's MSRP. And there ain't any haggle room on them because there ain't no cars on the lots to speak of.
I know half of you look past the fact that it's "just a 4 cylinder" but if you knew what I've had to go through this last 5 1/2 months, you'd kind of understand. Plus, the ecoboost is plenty for a daily. I have another car that will kill it-and kill a Mustang GT, and a GT500, on a drag strip. Absolutely annihilate them. So if I have the urge to go fast, I go to the track. In those 5 1/2 months the truck (which I daily drive) lost an injector. I just pulled the valve cover and disconnected it. Then the cups begin to leak. I don't have any vacation time left to fix the truck, so I have to suck up the fact that it runs on 6 1/2 cylinders (powerstroke 7.3, one injector is also bad but it still runs on it, intermittently), and every few weeks I have to drain and refill the cooling system because it fills with diesel. 8 gallons of coolant. I've done this for the last 5 1/2 months. Plus the interior is falling apart, the transmission is getting weak, needs tires, etc. The fox body? It sits. It's overbuilt, and very hard to drive on the streets, at least where I have to travel daily for work. It takes me 21 minutes average to go 1.1 miles, from work to the freeway, and from there it takes me 7 minutes to get home. Only route there is to get where I'm going. Plus the fox uses a TON of fuel; it was originally thought up as a project for a weekend car, which is exactly what it is. Ok for a backroad cruise on the highway, in town and to/from work? SUCKS.
So to say that the ecoboost showing up is a blessing, is an understatement. But that also means I'm gonna have to get busy fixing the truck....
