I don't know the person who bought this car so I won't make any assumptions about him. But in general these cars are useless. They seem to sit in someone's "collection" for a few years and then get sold to someone else's collection. Nobody ever drives them. I don't care how much money you have, there's no point in buying anything that you're never going to use. The collector car market has been up and down several times in the last couple decades so it's not a guaranteed money making investment.

I hope this guy has a lot of fun driving the car.

You are right. He does not drive them, just stores his money in them and insures them. I believe your cash is only insured up to 250k still in the bank.

I think that's a thing of the past. Don't hear much of that these days. Usually garbage in the glovebox
Expect imperfection and you won’t be disappointed. Not terrible. But imperfect. It’s not up to Audi, Porsche or even GM assembly or paint quality based on my 2020 GMC Acadia, but it’s not terrible. Uneven stamping edges, dirt imbedded in paint, wavy panels, large and inconsistent gaps, tail light and rear window misalignment are common.
I looked at a 911 and it is just so perfect and consistent in all the areas i mentioned. In any light the Porsche looks as though it is “one piece.” Really impressive build quality, tight consistent gaps throughout all panels on both sides and thick quality paint. I call the Porsche build observational precision, whereas with the Mustang it’s “good enough”….most times.

I think we get what one can expect of a car with stickers on it.

With all the small imperfections and inconsistencies typical of S550’s in general, they still are a great deal for the value, fun factor and uniqueness inherent in their design. I’d love to be able to say one day that our cars have made it to the next level in fit and finish.

Meanwhile I'm over here trying to get the Mach 1 paid off by 2025 so my soon to be wife doesn't kill me to move into a new house. That one car costs more than I'll make in several years, lol.
no shit. we close in 2 weeks on a house and my wife made some comment the other night about......"you know if we didn't have the mustang payment that money could go to some fun home improvement projects every month." she doesn't seem to realize the home is improved by having the mach 1 in the garage!

i don't exactly run in a circle of people that buy and sell these cars but years ago i met a guy that had a red GT, i believe it was a 2005. he had installed long tubes and used it almost daily. if i remember correctly he had about 30k miles on it by 2010. super cool car guy that you would have never guessed had a gt.

I didn't realize they were that expensive. Wow. Still, beautiful cars. Good for him.

Taking a page out of Boeings play book, soda cans and a crew ladder left inside a compartment in the KC-46 tanker for the USAF!

That is awesome that your friend is driving that car. In my life I have only seen 1 GT on the street. It was an 05/06 and I saw it about 10 years ago. That is my beef about this, I don't care what someone does with their money, they earned it. But most of these cars just sit in a warehouse where nobody ever sees them and they don't get used. It must piss off the people who build them, why bother putting an engine in them.

He was a true car guy. Like you pointed out seeing one in real life is like a once in a lifetime event. Whenever anyone walking by commented on it he would show it off and let them sit in it. Made the day of a lot of little kids!

A friend of a friend just brought this home. No threads for the GT's :) Look at the price on these now. He now has three.

What does your friend do (profession) that he’s able to buy (3) Ford GT’s? Not looking for monetary income, just what profession?
