I'm wanting to change the factory trans fluid in my 10 speed trans. What is the best oil and how much does it take? Any tips on changing it?

Can the fluid be changed using a vacuum pump?

I don't know. You would need a special adapter to lock into the hole. Eh do the pan drop then you change the filter too. It was real easy to do. But I have a lift. The harder part is filling but i did that eith a 2.ft clear hose onto a small funnel. Then you gotta drive the car. Winter mode heats the trans up faster btw.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember something about the 10R having a thermostat that makes this difficult for a flush machine.
If you meant just suctioning from the filler hole I'm not sure how much of the total fluid you'll be able to get

Dropping the pan is probably one of the easiest steps in this whole process, so doesn't really make much sense to not do it. I would say use a pump to evacuate some of the fluid out of the pan so that when you do take it off you don't make a mess (or make less of a mess). But I would not do it all with just the pump, as mentioned another good thing to do is replace the filter.

While your dropping the pan best to install an alloy one with drain plug so you can easily refresh the 6-8 it's out of the 13+ every so often. Good to drain it into a measured container so it's a no brainer on how much fluid to refill.

The magnetic plug will pickup all the small stuff too extending life of filter to 60+K miles at least.

This is my next to do once have 20K miles on the new warranty 10R80.
