Here is what I have to add and it's the Devil in the details you are ignoring. Trim for trim the Camaro outperforms the Mustang at every level. The SS outperforms the PP1, the SS1LE outperforms the PP2 and is extremely close in performance to the 350R even though it is at a significant weight, power and wheel/tire disadvantage. Now, If you think that everyone is just going to drink the Koolaid and believe that Ford managed to overcome all the issues that have prevented previous models from surpassing the Camaros on track with a car that weighs in 350lbs heavier, simply because it has 760hp and a whiz bang transmission...your mistaken. I'm a skeptic for good reason and not alone.
Nice post, notice there is a 200lbs difference between an SS and a ZL1. How did gt500 gain 400/500lbs? And that's comparing it to the carbon package gt500.

Can you show me a gt350r lap time compared to a c6z. Cars are in the same ball park in terms of power but one is 500lbs lighter.
Also, previous gt500 time is SLOWER than a gt350r. So how does more weight and more power really work? Gt350r is around 200lbs lighter compared to 2013 gt500.

I could go on, but obviously you didnt look at the weights of the fastest cars.

I was in carmel California yesterday, saw a ton of exotics, 4 new ford gts. I didnt go to the exotics on Broadway which was the main event. Anyways I saw a zl1 1le. I think they're cool, I'm reminded of how quick that car can do a lap and continuously do it, especially for its weight. It has front dive planes, it has enough coolers to keep engine/blower/transmission running lap after lap, it also has a rear wing that stands up high. Gt500 doesnt have front dive planes and has a low standing wing. Kind of like the non ZTK package in the ZR1. The fast laps that the ZR1 was able to achieve was in the higher wing ZTK package.

I think if ford was serious about this being a track star, this would have a bigger wing, front dive planes and done a little more to address weight.

Now maybe this car can do a fast lap or two, beat the previous gt350r, but after that 4100lbs will be hard to hide. Either way I'm excited, it's a fuggen beast and as a ford guy this car will put down more power then advertised.
I feel like there is a reason you guys are avoiding answering this very basic question..

You quoted 7 paragraphs. What is the very basic question?
they responded with 7 paragraphs, and not answering the question

can you tell me what order these cars are in, in terms of lap times?

Bigger wing? They used the carbon fiber wing from the GT4 racecar. How much more serious do you need?

The GT500 carbon also has gurney flap and integrated dive planes.

As for the weight gain, that's what happens when you have to beefen up the suspension/drive-train for more power, widen the front end, widen the tires, add more cooling, add a supercharger, add a heavier transmission, add more cooling capacity, add bigger brakes etc. All of this added weight was done to allow the car to go faster at the track. You can't lighten these cars and expect them to reliably be faster.

I'm curious, why do you think this car can only do a fast lap or two?
Tire wear! After a few laps with that much weight.......

GT500 track pack will beat every single car on a road course made in 2020 that costs $125,000 or less.
Lol. Uhhh. Maybe? Hopefully? For how many laps?
To match the contact patch to load ratio of the C8, we might need a 405 wide square tire fitment...
1.5g repeated with 4xxx lbs on <345 wide is gonna be hella tire wear.

Edit:
Former tire engineer Japan and US and tracked a Whippled 2015 on 305 square. I feel like I already tracked the GT500 4yrs before it came out. Yall realize there are TT S550 already running COTA with way more power than GT500?
Gonna be a long time before a GT500 beats all the other boosted S550 at COTA..
Ford FTW

Yes, it will wear tires pretty bad on the track.

I get your point but not sure how everyone else spec'd out their CFTP 2 seat car but the cost for my upcoming GT500 is $93,980 therefore I would be willing to make that same claim for any cars costing less than $95,000.

It's apples to oranges when you compare the Camaro to the Mustang...

The SS1LE and ZL1 are essentially the same car. The Z weighs 100lbs more and has 200 more hp. This comes out to a 4 second advantage at VIR and 2 seconds at WS. Ford is taking a GT350 and adding 230hp and 475lbs to the car and most of that weight is in the front half.

add 375lbs of ballast to the front of a ZL1 and let me know what kinda lap times it runs.

Honestly this car is a reflection of ford right now. Lmfao “it’s just good enough” give them 760hp who cares about weight and no manual trans, some old guy will buy it

as a ford person and car enthusiasts, it pisses me off more people aren’t going ummmmm wtf. This definitely a trend with ford right now across the whole damn board.

Yup. You also forgot the part where they (Ford that is) take forever to release something so they can build the hype. Then they release them slow enough so the people that really have to have one run out and pay ADM. Then the magazines all drive it and start picking it apart. The following year you can buy one at less than MSRP.

Maybe it would have saved us a lot of this banter.
Now wouldn't THAT be nice? I for one am weary of the comparisons and conjecture.
