I wonder how each car would do against each other on a track. I saw the C8 Nurburgring track time which isn’t crazy and that’s with pretty much a 80K C8. There hasn’t been a 2020 GT350R track time since 2016 so I wonder how it would do against the C8.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
No real comparison between the R and the C8 will be worthwhile until the C8 is in full competitive form (ie. ZO-) The base C8 is not the "competitor" to the R

I think it is comparable since it technically has a better track time and both cars are NA and around the same price Z51/ R.

I would say GT350/R is more in line with a C7 GS ... both the S550 and C7 platforms were introduced around 2014/15 while C8 is entirely new next gen platform.

I’m just wondering about a race who would win in a track race a C8 or a 20 GT350R

A C8 would handle the GT 350R with little drama since a comparably equipped tire wise GT 500 barely beat it at VIR with Randy Pobst driving. The 500 ran away from it on the straits and the C8 made it all back in the twisties. The carbon fiber GT 500 blew the C8 into the weeds however but the standard one did not.

There is a video out there on YouTube somewhere I saw where a guy parked his GT350R right next to a C8. It was surprising how much lower to the ground the C8 is. Couple that with ~equivalent HP, better weight distribution, DC Auto and the C8 has too many advantages.

Without ever driving the C8 I would think the GT350R would be more fun to drive and certainly sounds better.

The answer will come out soon enough when same driver drives both cars on the same track.

I would still like to see a race. I think it would be pretty close.

I had a early Vin allocation for a C8 but canceled the order. I’m glad I did since all I see around are C8s. They aren’t special anymore. I happy with my decision with a GT350R. I’ve never seen one on the road and they are a manual with a FPC V8!

Probably depends on the track but yeah don't get me wrong the C8 wouldn't run away from the GT350R.

Here is the video, look about 7:45 in and you can see them side by side.

Yea I’ve seen this video. The suspension on the R is better than the C8 but being mid engine would change the game. Tires would be a factor and course. It would be close
