It proved one car ran one different time. On one day. And another different time. A different day. Nothing more. You guys with your 3.15 fastest gear in the world nonsense. The fact that none of you ask about track conditions. Or DA. Or any other relevant factor. Is amazing. I’d bet the 3.15s went in later in the season. When the air is better. But I don’t want to confuse anyone with the thinking stuff. if the steeda thread makes you NA 3.15 kids feel fast. More power to ya. The dude that made the pass in the steeda thread. couldnt even remember he had an aftermarket drive shaft.:crazy:

Serious.

you take that same 3.15 car and put 3.73s on it, 3.55s or 4.10s, and each of those will be quicker. A smaller final drive means more instantaneous launch. It’s just how it works. Now talking trap speed, etc. is a different game. But getting from point A to point B in the short run? The higher number gear is going to do the job.

I’m not sure if your agreeing or disagreeing? The larger the gear ratio. (The bigger the number) means more force at the launch. Gears are basically a torque magnifier. That’s why back in the day. People would pack a 4.56 gear in a 3 speed transmission. But there is more to it. Than just a launch. And sixty foot. You want to cross the traps in 4th. Avoiding a shift into 5th. That would rob you of time. and put you out of your power band. If you were to use to steep of a gear. Now with the 7400rpm range of the 18-19S. Both 3.15 and 3.55 will hold thru 4th. The 3.15 fastest gear in the world is an internet myth. Like people like to say that the s197 was faster than the s550s. No data backs up either claim. And both claims are usually made buy guys in s197s. Or guys with 3.15 gears.

Regardless of your preference of vehicle flavor, it's impressive to live in a time where you can buy a car that could do an 11 second 1/4 mi (with stickier rubber and a properly prepped track), then go back home with the A/C on, all while enjoying the factory warranty. Just 10 years ago, this was almost unheard of.

They tested and tested and tested........3.15 gear is the better choice.
My GT with 3.15 gears sure felt slower though...

My Charger feels faster, but I know it isn't. Gotta recalibrate the old butt dyno.
Need to recalibrate it for a large boat... Think butt dyno for cruise ship on wheels
