If you want something that holds value and even goes up, get a GT3. I'm hoping t get one once I retire and get access to the 401K. A manual 997.1 or 997.2 version. Perhaps even a 996 version, as its a truly analog car with no nannies what so ever. In 20 years or so when its all electric, i think the 350 will have held its value. By then many of them will be crashed or have blown engines....
I looked at this car. It is a 2001 Porsche twin turbo (TT) car in a great color with 37K miles. The high bid was $35K:

A new Porsche 911 TT is around ~$200K.

Supposedly the killing stroke on long term value of the 996's was the headlight shape. Funny how fickle collectors can be.

These same things offer a good price for pure car enthusiasts. I look at as a performance car and something to drive hard and never as any investment.

I'd love to get the TT Porsche 911 to drive it like I stole it. I drove an early 930 before and the power is awesome at high Rpm's. The car weighs in at a lite weight car.

I miffed at a chance to get a 997.1 turbo. I had a super deal worked then teased a bit then lost out. It was a six speed too. It was scary fast. To get it on boost took a open highway. On a two lane twisty backroad it was close to unmanageable. They will only increase in value. Just gotta watch out fir coolant pipe failures and get it done before it hits.

I agree.

The above is a scrambled-egg headlight 996 early TT. You are talking about the latest Porsche 911 991 model TT.

I promise that the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is the best bang for the money. No doubt..

Maybe fickle, but the interior was ugly and a mess and the broken egg headlights are just the worst....

So, back to the poster. If your looking for a payback, keep the 15. If your looking for performance, there is no question the 19 is a better choice although an R would be best of both worlds. But, I have to say, buying any car as an investment, even a Porsche is nuts.

I was following this one. How was it in person?

Car values. Yea, it's problematic. I don't like the idea of my weekend cars dropping in value like my daily drivers.

I own both a 2018 GT350 and a 1999 996 factory aero that originally MSRP at $102k. I paid less than half for the Porsche than the Mustang and will very likely be able to get all my money back out of the 911 some day. Makes me regret not buying a 996tt instead of the Shelby... Until I drive the Shelby!!!

Eh, it's only money!

There was a burnt orange 997 GT3 on BAT last week I really wanted...but sadly no GT3 till I retire.

Depends on if you plan on driving your car. A lot of people get stuck on the value of the car in 50 years. I think they picture themselves on Mecum getting top dollar while laying in their hospice bed.

I also think of if you took $65,000 today and stuck it into a good investment account with long term growth stocks, what would it be worth 25 or 50 years from now ?

Probably a lot more than a car would be worth at auction.
