Something weird popped up today and I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

My dash lights aren’t working all the time. I’m not talking about when the parking lights or headlights are switched on, they work then, but rather when driving in the daylight.

They normally will be lit up white. They’re dark right now. Intermittently they’ll come back on but have been off for most of the day.

When I use the dimmer switch it doesn’t matter (it’s currently all the way to the brightest setting). I just turned the car off and they illuminated - I start it again and back to super dim/off.

Not sure if there’s any correlation with this problem and the fact that my reverse camera stopped working earlier? That only happened once and has been fine other than the one instance.

Anyone have any ideas why or have experienced this?

Problem with the ambient light sensor maybe.....The brightness should change with the ambient light

Thanks!

I just hopped in to head out to the gym and it’s still doing it. So I’ll be taking it back to Ford again. Yay.

Another guy a last week had this same issue, so I'll tell you what I told him. The dash lights are on a 2 tier brightness system, meaning that the dash light brightness when the headlights are on and when they are off are 2 different adjustments. Have you tried adjusting the dash dimmer with them on and off? Also, the other guy had a phone or GPS mount near the sensor and relocating it solved his issue. Idk if this will help, but it may save you a trip to Ford.

I'm not sure if it's the same issue you are experiencing, but on my 2018, in some lighting conditions, the instrument backlighting turns off (or is so low, it looks off). It seems to happen when I'm parked somewhere in the shade, but there is still indirect sunlight light coming into the car. Like under a gas station roof, or in my garage with the garage door open. Once I actually start driving somewhere, it seems to usually come on to normal intensity after a few seconds. My dimming level is set to full intensity.
