Racing is about building a complete package. The less powerful cars that you are referring to. Are just set up better. For instance. My 95gt makes about 500 wheel hp on motor. (800 on spray) But it’ll also cut a 1.3-1.4 sixty. Weighs 2750 pounds. And is sitting on a drag racing suspension. You can take a 1000whp car on stock suspension. And I’ll beat that car 99 times out of 100. But take that same car and match my suspension and weight and it’ll win every time. It’s hard to overpower a prepped track. With all other things being equal. The more powerful car will win at the drag-strip. On the street or no prep races is where less can work in your advantage.
