Maybe I'm bi-polar on this. So hear me out and give me all your expertise.

I have an absolutely mint 2015 GT Premium auto. Has the 20 inch rims and 355 gears. I just put brand new 275 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S +3 on which are great.

If I sell it, say get $27K, $25 on trade in. Then I buy a 2018 with the PP1, nav, auto, I'm in for $42K plus tax which is another 2400. So, $44,400 -$2,700, means I have to come up with say $20K.

Lebanbon Ford or LMS will do the Whipple stage 2, gen 3 for $12k including OPG and sprocket. They will also install the heavy duty halfshafts for $1,700 installed. Then I can do the Ford Performance Track kit for $1,200 which I will install myself. New tires and wheels for track or dragstrip another $2,000.

All the mods installed are $17 - 18K. So I will be a few thousand ahead of a brand new Mustang.

I have the cash to do either.

What would you do, and why?

I'd stick with what you have and modify. You get a better performing car, and save money.

Keep your car, and buy a slightly used Paxton for 4-5k and go nines.

Well the 18 is a better overall platform. The A10 is crazy good. Also the suspension is better of this year. You can do minor mods to a 18 and be well into the 11's. Then later add a power adder.

Either way you cannot go wrong really.

Tough call. I’ll say that $25k is pretty close to trade value too. I’ve been kicking around trading my premium 15 GT with the 20’s myself. I’ve got 7,400 miles on mine and the most I’ve been offered is $25.5k
I’m leaning towards a C7 myself. If I keep mine, I’ll wait til next gen stang.

BTW, thanks for all the input. One thing I forgot to add is that I want the car quiet as possible for my "cross country" trip when I retire soon. That's where the '18 is awesome with the adjustable exhaust. But I am not counting out keeping the '15 and doing the mods. Please feel free to share more ideas.

As someone who just bought a barely used '15 that came Whippled, I would never sell it to get a new normally aspirated '18.

The short answer is, if you can afford it and you want it... do it!
Either way you will have a great car that will give you a lot of enjoyment. I know that’s not really the answer you were looking for.

All i can say is that I have a 2017 with Roush phase 3 SC and I don’t see me trading it in on anything for a long long time. More mods??? Oh hell yeah :D

PS, you can get active exhaust for your 2015. I looked into it when I put the Corsa’s on.

If I remember correctly, Jmeo did active exhaust on his first build. Well...maybe his current build now that I think about it. Check it out in the build section if you want. His work is amazing.

I feel you, OP. My local dealership approached me and asked if I wanted to trade my 2016 Premium GT auto with low miles for a 2018 GT premium auto with PP and magneride they have in stock for almost 5k under MSRP. Gap would be $20k. I have a bunch of parts (including a blower) sitting ready for install in spring. If I sold these, I could lower the difference but would roughly still have to pay $10k and would have a "stock" '18. I don't think the new tech, engine, auto is worth that much to me and my supercharged '16 will be faster than the '18, at least in a straight line, haha. I really dislike the '18 front fascia on pictures but I hear a lot of people saying that in person it looks pretty good. I haven't seen one in person yet but I'm afraid I could like it better. So I guess I will stay far away from the dealership and close my eyes when I see the '18s in traffic, haha
