Wasn't the percentage of 15-17 GT's sold/ordered pretty much with the Performance Pack as opposed to without it? Could have sworn that is what I read somewhere, that even Ford was suprised that package sold as well as it did.

So if that is true, wouldn't it only make sense to raise the price on it (from a bean counter point of view lol).
I heard the same thing. I think they are playing with fire there....as they will quickly see that they have exceeded the limit of what people are willing to pay.

When I picked up my 16GT, the PP was a deal at $2500. I would still have paid $3000 if I went with a 17....but more than that, I would more than likely start looking at aftermarket options instead of paying for the markup.

So basically 17 GT PP = 18 GT ?

So for those that hardcore race a Mustang will want the 18 GT PP+MagneRide ?

But not allowing base GT with MagneRide will force a lot of the buyers to also get the PP even though they prolly do not need it. Getting a 18 GT you basically pay 17 GT PP money and if you want MagneRide you have to spend another 4k on some PP package. So it's essentially a ~7.7k option to get MagneRide. And I think that's the big issue here. People feel shafted by the weird packaging Ford has done, without any explanation as to why.

Is PP+MagneRide really just a track option ? Why wouldn't Ford make it affordable for those that just want it for the road ? Does it not match the base suspension ?

It is fairly tempting to go pick up a 17 Premium with PP and Tech BS for $38-39k right now. That is $3-4k cheaper than the 18 GT PP (non-premium) I picked out, and I would get 0% financing for 72 months. Decisions decisions...
I just wish I didn't love the new orange paint and direct injection.

Camaro isn't an option for me. I have been checking them out for the last week, and even with the 1LE package they are hideous. Everything in the arse end is completely square, the sides are chunky, and the front looks like a squished 80s car. I want to like it, because of the performance. I just get the ol gag reflex every time I think about owning one for several years.

Again, not at all correct. The GT doesn't get the Brembo brakes, the Torsen Differential, the bigger radiator, the belly pan and brake cooling ducts etc. The MY18 gets the suspension only (how much, I have no idea).

They don't get performance tires either. Base 18 GT still has all-season.

Then I really don't know how this 4k price tag can be right when it doesn't include MagneRide and there is even a PP2 coming......

But do think if there was a "soft" PP option for those who just want Brembo + MagneRide on their base GT it would be much easier on people.

All the other parts just seem to be track specific anyway. Arguably so are Brembo's and MagneRide but at least I can see those being of some use on the street.

In all reality, for the extra $1000 over the 17 PP you get better tires and upgraded suspension. So maybe $300 in extra parts...and Ford will be pocketing the rest.

One thing is for certain, the PS4 tires most definitely will last longer than the PZeros. I personally wasn't keen on buying a set of new tires at 15k miles (they were shot at 12k).

Bought my brand new 2016 Premium with nav and 20" wheels for 36k out the door. Building a 2018 PP premium with 10 speed auto, without mangeride and active exhaust :(was 47k and some change... For the 11K price difference, I'm not getting much more of a car....

I'm sure it'll be a hit, but I'll just be happy with what I have for now.

You very likely do not want or need MagneRide if you are not tracking or serious canyon carving. MagneRide should be way stiffer than the base suspension. PP without MagneRide should be fine for most people who don't want or care about the extra performance MagneRide brings.

Lol I'm obviously just being sarcastic. I started doing that in the 350 section and it just became a running joke. But the reason why it's spelled MagneRide with an 'E' of course is because of "magnetic". Magnetic Ride...ya know, MagneRide?

Magma, Magna, Magne, Momma...whatever. :frusty:

:lol::lol:

You got 12K miles out of them. That's actually pretty good for Summer Only HP tires. It's funny when someone buys Summer Only HP tires, and then complains about their short life-span.

When the 2011 car with the BPP came out, the Pirellis lasted about 8K miles. They're M.O. tires, and Pirelli got tired of the complaints from Mercedes and Mustang owners and changed the compound so the tires lasted longer.

So if with the PP, Magneride, etc and all options at $52,000k and it beats a Camaro SS 1LE around the track by over a second how would that be a step back exactly other than maybe being not as good value wise? The michelin tires, and magneride should make this car lap significantly better times, corner flatter and get rid of that traditional boat/floaty feel.
