I have a 2018 gt base model and it started making a kinda loud ticking / knocking on the bottom end on the passenger side ONLY on cold starts and as soon as the cars warmed up and I drive it it’ll be there very quiet then after about 5 mins of driving I get out and check for the noise and it’s gone it only stays there when it cold or whenever I don’t start the car for more than a couple hours it’s really bothering I only have 3700 miles on the car right now and the noise started around 2900 miles scared to take my car in because I don’t want it to be in the shop for months because I’ve heard someone’s car has been on back order because of a clutch and transmission internals for 5 months also my brothers a technician at Chevy and he put it on the lift he thinks it’s coming from my trans cause when he drove it he hears a rattle between 1800rpm-2300rpm then stops anywhere above that also a friend told me he thinks it could be because of my CATS but doesn’t really make sense cause cause when I give it gas it’ll tick / rattle / knock whatever the noise is there and it’ll keep going until it’s warmed up then it’ll stop when the cars warm and won’t make any noise but when I start it again after it sitting for a while it’ll come back again till it warms up If anyone could help before I just take it in and let it sit for a while at the dealer

If you are hesitant to take it to a dealer (I know I am and would be), take it to a high end shop and have them use a stethoscope to pin point the problem. This way you will have the peace of mind that your car is not in hands of someone not caring and irresponsible + you can usually wait at the shop and make sure the work is done right and your car is not abused. If they shop determines its an issue that will result in damage to your drive train, I would take it to a dealership with your finding so they can stop guessing and just get straight to where the noise is coming from and start working on the problem. Best of luck man.
