Who can afford an out of warranty engine rebuild ????
But it depends the on the % failure rate, the % approved warranty claims of those failures, cost of those claims, cost of developing & implementing a countermeasure, and the feasibility/durability of the countermeasure.
Ford is a business and not a car enthusiast
Just my opinion but I would imagine Ford have already tried 1 or 2 simple solutions which were not 100% successful, hence there’s still issues With later cars.
Equally, if statistically only a few fail each year, it will not even get on Fords radar. And it will only gather some swell when the cars are older and start failing more frequently- by which point they’re out of warranty so zero cost to Ford
Yes this affects brand image, BUT people are still queuing up to buy a Mustang, even to the point of using the name as halo effect on an otherwise dull electric family sedan....
