First I'm hearing of the 18 manifold being a pain to install. It's simple enough where anyone who is capable of swapping an intake is definitely capable of doing it.

I put an 18 on my gen 2 and it was easily done with the aid of a short tutorial I found online. There are parts that are a little hokey and add a small amount of time to the install, but it isn't difficult

If you're interested in the power curves of different manifolds I linked some testing below for various manifolds on the coyote

I would recommend a tune for any intake swap.

The biggest issue with the 18 manifold on a gen 2 is the need for a tune.

I believe VMP used a gen 2 truck manifold. The gen 3 runs out a few hundred more RPM

Damn that truck mani looks fun!

I vote on an 18 manifold. Mine was basically free and the gen 3 truck manifold I have was actually free on craigslist. I locked mine out with zip ties so that was also free. I'd personally get a tune with any of the manifold swaps, so I wouldn't even count that

There's at least 1 member on here that has mentioned they really like using the truck manifold. I could see where it would make sense for some people 👍

I think VMP used the gen2 truck manifold. The gen 3 pulls out to 6800

It pairs well with the 6R80. The gen 3 truck manifold.

Do you know who it is? Also do you know if that chart has the IMRC lockouts installed for the hp and tq?

It is very fun. Just don't post it here you will get bashed.:)

I have a truck mani in my garage, does anyone know if lund would do it, or what other tuner would be best to use with it? I have a lund ngauge and a sct x4 from vortech. Not sure if I should do lockouts again or not with the truck mani

You will have to ask, a few others did and Lund basically said FO.
