Eh, maybe. If they find it is entirely unrelated to the area that has been worked on, they will still likely cover it. However, it seems pretty likely that it will be related to something modified or removed. I am interested to hear the results either way.

Well, to all those who said it's not gonna be covered by warranty, it is.
To all people who gave suggestions, thank you very much.

Also, update on the problem, turns out there's no problem, the tow truck guy came over and reset the security alarm system, and the car started up fine after that. It sounded pretty rough for the first few minutes, but then it smoothed out, though the check engine light turned on. He said there is a chance that the security system shuts off the fuel injector if it detected something, but the question is what triggered the security system. And my car also has the enhanced security package, nothing like this happened when I was working on it. Also, the tow truck guy used the keyfob to reset the alarm, don't quite remember the sequence but it was something like 10 times unlock, 4 times lock then 4 times unlock, anyone know about this?

Took it to the dealership yesterday, they worked on it today but couldn't find anything wrong with it, updated PCM and did some generic checks for fluid levels and brakes, no charge.

Congrats to my friend, he didn't break his car. :D :headbang:

Not saying it wasn't my fault, but all I did during the whole installation was took the emblem out of the box and modify the wires to work with 2018 (it was supposed to be a 2015-2017 part because the wires for the lights changed for 2018). ;) It's pretty easy to do, since it has a pass through connector, I only need to cut the pass through off, plug it into the emblem's connector, then connect the dangling wires of the pass through connector to a T wiretap.

Yes yes, almost forgot it was your friend's car. I had faith you guys didn't trigger the CEL/DTC due to air problems. It honestly sounded like a coincidence to me.

There are sensors that know when the hood is open or closed and they could be tied to the alarm system. Maybe you did some combination of starting the car with the hood open or closed when you were working on it that made the alarm put the car in limp mode or something like that.

Good to hear he didn't have a non-warranty issue. It probably did spawn from something you guys did. However, the security features shouldn't be set up in a way that doesn't allow simple work in the engine bay.

Good news, but someone found how to reset the security system, like the tow truck driver did?
We may need to use that procedure!
