I ordered the 18 GT Premium with PP1 and Mageride but got notice from the dealer that the Mageride will not be availabe until 2019.

So what recommendations on suspension mods would be good to do?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

There were 2018s built with magneride. I have one. I guess your dealer says Ford isn’t building any MORE 2018s with magneride.
Is it too late to tell him you want a 2019? The 2019 gets a few of the smart and safe features as standard equipment.

If you can't wait; Check out Bilstein’s shocks.
Cheers,

Switch your order to a 2019 and get the magneride. It shouldn't be much of a delay at all as there's nothing really new. 2018MY was short.

Thanks for the replies.

I thought of delaying to a 2019, and this could just be the dealer talking, but the word I got was that Mageride not going to be available on the first 2019 built due to parts availability. No definitive date as to when the Mageride will be released again.

So I am looking at plan B. My first thought was the Ford Performance Track Handling Pack. Just not sure how many, if any, of these components are installed with the PP1 option. I am thinking none. Just looking for confirmation or anyone's experience that has done suspension mods on the PP1.

Thanks again,

Rob

The Ford Performance Track handling pack struts and shocks are excellent, probably one of the best options currently available. I'd even try those with stock GT PP1 springs if you don't want to lower the car, and if you do, with BMR Handling (SP083 rev C) springs or min drop performance springs (SP763). The handling springs + FRPP dampers will feel a lot like a GT350.

I like the idea of lowering an inch. I think more than that and the suspension travel is too limited for the street. This comes with the Ford packages.

What I am not sure if the sway bars will be an upgrade for the PP1 package.

I have not seen a definitive statement if the PP1 uses the same performance sway bars.

I am thinking the PP1 and Performance package are not the same with the Performance package being larger.

Anyone know for sure?

TIA,

Rob

PP1 = performance package. They're the same equipment. The Track handling pack definitely has larger sway bars, if that's what you were asking about.

Many happy folks with the whole Ford performance package, though I'd suggest talking with Bluemustang who switched from the springs that come with that package to the BMR Handling springs and is much, much happier. They're linear springs with rates very near the GT350 and 0.88" front and 0.75" rear drops. Keeps it very livable and doesn't mess up the suspension geometry.

Thanks again all for the replies.

What I am asking regarding the Ford Track Handling package compared to the PP1 on the S550 is:

If I was to take all of the same components of off the GT Prem w/ PP1 and did a piece by piece comparison do they have the same Ford part number?

I know the springs are not the same P/N(these are lower by an 1" all around) but what about the rest of the components?

The bottom line is I would not want to get the Track package remove all of the components and come to the realization that I have two sets of the same parts accept for springs.

TIA,

Rob

Track handling pack is different from the Performance Pack. Track > Street = Performance Pack.

For Street vs Performance pack springs are different, the rest is the same.

The Track package sway bars are larger than even the GT350R sway bars.

Since you're already talking about suspension mods and all that goodness, I would strongly suggest you delaying your order until 2019 and ordering a PP2.
That car will need nothing but a rear-seat delete, lowering springs, and an x-pipe.

Or go PP1 and PP2 knuckles or just $1000 track pack suspension or $3k KW/KWroush
Or gt350 brakes and front knuckles/suspension.
Or.. nevermind. Just wait for 2019 Mag ride. Little birdie says there might be slight technical improvement in 19 MR.
