I recorded a video of my 2019 Mustang GT on a cold start. Can anyone with an S550 V8 confirm if your 5.0 also makes this noise in the mornings and if that is normal, or if it’s a sign of a problem?

Please let me know, thanks.

considering that s in a garage too I think it sounds fine IMO. I hear a slight drop in the idle at those times you mentioned but that seems normal too.

I recorded a video of my 2019 Mustang GT on a cold start. Here's the Vimeo video link. In the mornings, for about 30–45 seconds, there’s a light, almost controlled "clatter". Specifically, around the 38-second mark of the video, you begin to hear that the engine starts to sound completely different. Notice the difference in the engine sound at the 35-second mark, versus the 45-second mark.

I’m currently experiencing issues with severe spark knock (pre-detonation) and a rough idle after spirited driving on the freeway. I learned that a clatter/rattling noise on cold starts is a sign of bad phasers, and I'm wondering if this is the sound it makes and that the phasers are the root causes of the issues I'm facing. Can anyone with an S550 V8 confirm if your 5.0 also makes this noise in the mornings and if that is normal, or if it’s a sign of a problem?

Please let me know, thanks.
The tapping sound I’m hearing starting at the ~35 second mark sounds a lot like the typical Coyote tick.

My car ticks/taps like mad as it warms up, and that’s possibly what I’m hearing in this video. It sounds very similar to the faint ticking that starts happening in your video.

Based on the little bit I’m hearing, and the fact that there are thousands of gen 3 Coyotes out there making similar noise, I’d say not an issue until we get video with a better recreation of the sound.

The sound I believe is starting to happen sounds like this. This was my car when it was nearly new and has been doing it since with over 55k miles on it now. It’s been tuned NA, flex fuel, supercharged on ethanol, revved to over 8,000 rpm, ran on the speed limiter for hundreds/thousands of miles, and generally driven quite hard with no issues.
