Hello everyone.

My wife recently purchased a new 2018 Ecoboost Mustang, but noticed it doesn't have factory remote start like her 2016. It's a long story, but let's just say it was bought on short notice, and they didn't have any with all her desired options on the lot.

I started researching installing the factory remote start in a base EB, and I haven't found a lot of hardware information. I have found a couple of aftermarket options, but nothing about the true OEM system. So I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Here's what I know:

FORScan can enable remote start
Key fobs are different FCC IDs with different frequencies
Export EB don't have remote start

What I don't know is, has anyone just tried swapping the fob and enabling in FORScan? I keep reading that remote start was included on all automatics, but I don't think that's the case for 2018.

Does anyone have any information they can provide that might help me here?

Thanks.

Ask the dealer. Afaik remote start should be standard if it’s an auto... unless, it’s just on Premium models? Does the FOB have a remote start button?

No, standard 3 button.

The remote start was listed in the 101A options package, but we only got 100A on the window sticker.

Is it auto or manual? Only autos can remote start and it is standard on all trims (even the most basic of V6s like mine).

My wife's 2016 had it as well, but her new 2018 does not.

Everything I have read said it was standard on all models 15-17, but I guess 18 is different? I'm thinking that all the hardware is there, but they disabled it in the computer, but I'd feel better knowing someone has tried this before and failed or succeeded.

I would go into the IPC or BCM using forscan and see if it is an option to enable. You would need a new key though with the remote start button.

PS: The modules have set options that can be enabled so this would not be modifying as built data but rather selecting activate or deactivate from a menu in forscan.

Yeah, we have a key on order. I need to order the BT adapter, so I can start getting FORScan setup as well.

Ford’s spec sheets show that remote start is standard on all automatic S500’s, 2015-2018 for sure.

It’s possible that your car simply came packaged with the wrong FOBs. Again, talk with your dealership before trying mods and spending money.

So, for what it's worth, the settings menu does not have a remote start option. It's also not listed on the window sticker.

Have you logged into ETIS and plugged your VIN to see everything the vehicle was built with?

I used a VIN decoder that pulled up my window sticker, but I'm not sure if it was ETIS. It was not listed on that window sticker.
