I just picked up a 2018 EB PP 6spd. Is the speed electronically limited on this car, and if so, at what speed? I've searched but can't seem to find any info on this.

Thanks.

It wouldn't be drag limited, it's too low. Probably not gearing either, considering how many overdrive gears both transmissions have. That's probably electronic for tire rating (or insurance ratings).

Just for clarification, I am talking about the Ecoboost. I loaded all the ratios into a gear chart calculator, and the "theoretical" top speed at 5500 rpm is 180 mph (thanks to a .70 6th). But lets be honest, there is no way 310 hp is pushing a 3500 lb car with this much frontal area to 180 mph. I suspect 155-160 tops. Which is still PLENTY. The fastest track I will drive is Road America. I can't see myself exceeding 130 by much. I just want to make sure the speed isn't limited to say, 120. That would piss me off!

Is that electronically limited, or drag limited?
At stock power, I doubt there's much difference.

You'd be lucky to get within 30 mph of that on most any road course anyway.

My 2016 EB was electronically limited at 120.I don't know if there has been any change. With a Cobb Acessport limit could be raised in 15-17 my.

Was your's a Perf Pack car? I read that the 120 limit may have been tire related. Since the Perf Pack comes with the "summer" P Zeros, it may be higher. But again, I don't know for sure.

That's probably electronic for tire rating
Or other parts. 2011 V6s had a ~114 limit and people assumed it was for tires until some removed the limiter and found their cheap drive shafts coming thru the floor. A limiter can be for the tire rating but also for other unpublished part limits.

It's certainly possible, but my understanding is that on current models, many of the components are shared across the entire model line, e.g., gearbox, differential, etc. This may have to do with the much closer gap in torque between the Ecoboost and the V8 (350lb/ft vs 420lb/ft).

I suppose I could try shooting a message to Ford, but I'm not too confident I'd get a reply.
