2017 v 2018 question

Hi all. I’ve decided on buying a GT350 this week and am down to a few options. From everything I’ve read, there’s no real difference between the 17 and 18 models.

Assuming the same miles, options, history, etc, how much should I care about buying a 17 vs an 18? Should they really be the same price assuming everything is the exact same?

P.S - thanks for all of the great resources provided on this forum. I’ve been lurking for a couple weeks now and have learned most everything I needed to know here.

There is word of mouth saying that the 18's had a change to help prevent the oil burning issues othat some have had, but I've not seen anyone confirm it's true. That aside, just buy which ever has the colors/options you want.

greetings. something you might want to note is that some 2017's had the older "can" style oil filter while the later 2017's got the cartridge style filter. all 2018's, AFAIK, have the newer cartridge style.

assuming all things the same, the 2017 should be lower priced bc it is an older car. but you are buying at a good time as you can find killer deals on 2017s and 2018's right now.

I had a 16 track pack and traded for a new 18R. If it were me, I’d get the 18.
Ford constantly makes changes. Some you may not see or know about. Newer in this case is better.

Is the newer cartridge style oil filter something that can be retrofitted during maintenance, or is it a completely new interface?

I certainly haven’t had issues and I’m boosted. Fewer issues reported on 2018 but that could be bc there are fewer. Ford made the switch for a reason... if it were me I’d go 18 or 19 hands down even if you pay more.

Assuming that a reasonable price is not an issue go with the 2018MY.

Good luck. I think we've all agreed that the change did indeed happen. However, there's really no definitive date when the changes were implemented during the model year build.
