2017 R got lucky

First time posting as I didn't trust my dealer that I really had a R. I recieved my window sticker today and can now confirm it to be true. My story is like many others as I called all over the country. I happen to drive into my local dealer one day3 months ago for giggles. They actually had one in the back behind the paint shop and showed it to me. I asked if for sale to the guy and he said yes. I looked at my 11yr old son and then back at the salesman and said not any more I'll buy it now. I said what do you need from me to make this happen today. He took me up front and as I sat in my car with my son (who I told no way its for sale). The salesman brought his boss out who appologized and said that in fact it was sold and had been special ordered 2016. Come to find out it was shipped to CA to a professional race driver who will be driving it at Pikes Peak.
My heart dropped and we drove away very dissapointed. A few weeks later for the heck of it I called in to the dealer. This is the weird part. The salesman said they don't have any allocations for 2016 but may get one 2017 allocation. Then he said wait a minute and I could tell someone else was talking to him. He came back on the phone and said I think I got you one. What? He said we have one allocation and they want to give it to you. I've never bought a Ford from them and they gave it to me? Doesn't make sence other than I can see the owners back door from my house but i don't know the guy. They had told me they got calls every day for one. I drove down and gave them $5,000 deposit and paid waitn for it ....$10,000 over ADM! Today I got the window sticker so I feel comfortable joining the forum knowing I truly do have a unicorn

trust me on this one: you're going to DIG this car. What you paid will be a distant memory when the you uncork the beast.

First of all congratulations on securing an allocation for a 2017 R model as that is outstanding! If you have not driven one of these bad boys so far you are in for a real treat.

I just spent the last week putting some miles on "GR107" and "HR019" and needless to say it has been a tremendous week and I still have another 3 days of vacation left whereby I will be putting more miles on them.

Having been a long time Ford supporter and loyal Mustang enthusiast I congratulate you on your upcoming R model as you are going to love this ride!!!

Any driving thoughts on the difference between the 16 and 17 R? I wouldn't normally think so.

Love the viper. looked at getting a ACER but this R is just to good for the money. Now if you the ACER was 100k it would be a TOUGH call. Who installed the lift? local folks? Thanks for invite I might take you up on it.

I hear you...try having your first thread ever about being excited to get a R and having it taken over by ADM know it all. Bummer for sure. I do look forward to learning from those that know much more than I about these wonderful cars. Thank you to the informative positive folks I appreciate your Imput on this thread and I guess we should shut it down and move on.

For sure man, like I said before, all that truly matters at the end of the day is whether or not your purchase makes YOU happy! Life is way too short to get hung up on the opinions of others, do whatever will bring you the most joy in life man and enjoy the car to the fullest! I know I certainly will

PS. You have to post pics of delivery when you pick up the car to prove you actually did buy it/satisfy the itch of everyone else waiting to pick theirs up

Oh, and don't forget to make sure the suspension spacers are removed and the splitter is installed correctly. Its up to you, but I would probably ask them not to wash it. The vinyl stripes scratch easy and the machines they use aren't the best.

Congrats on the purchase!
Purchased my first mustang (350R) a month ago and it is a fun car. I paid well above the price of your ADM and haven't looked back. In other words you got a great deal and hope you enjoy the car. ;)
