Good morning. Looking for some advice. Just pick up the car from the dealership; they told me the grinding I felt in the transmission is from the synchronizer/blocking rings. They mentioned they took fluid sample and found metallic debris in the fluid. They recommended replace transmission assembly or replace the transmission. Cost around $4500 was mentioned. I declined repairs at this time until I gather more information. I am based in Houston, TX. Thanks in advance.

Find a good, reliable transmission shop and get their opinion. Maybe someone who is familiar with high power applications.
Taking a car to a dealership for anything other than warranty repair is a fool's errand.

Sounds possible from my experience building old manual transmissions. The points on the gear engagement teeth wear down and won’t grab without some slipping (grinding). I doubt you need a whole new trans but with labor maybe, idk how easy it is to rebuild one of these transmissions.

probable causes are clutch not disengaging fully and crappy shifting technique. Slamming gears can chip the gear teeth but really slow, imprecise shifting can grind them down also.

@sms2022 Thanks for the input. The information I got is that they inspected clutch, and it was Ok. Even though, I will request to inspect clutch assembly while transmission is out of the car.
