Both choices are not great. I did a custom system in my 18. I think I spent like $2m. I did it myself. Difficult to install systems in these cars. I don't like the Dynavin or most of the other aftermarket stuff. Of course Kenwood is amazing. But going with the high quality aftermarket stuff presents it's own difficulties.

Tycoon, did you do the Kenwood DNX997XR? Pic?

Kenwood makes great stuff. I added XR1000 sub amp to my Audison AP8.9 and it's amazing. Own fasn as well. Tech phone support also amazing.

Do you have Sync3?
Keep it and change everything after the SYNC output.
There are DSPs that can be connected to the Sync.
Sync (the ACM) can be coded in such a way that a linear output signal is produced for the DSP.

Yes, it does have sync3.

I agree with the "Keep the Sync" comment. Its unfortunate that so many things are tied to it. You will lose a lot of functionality if you get rid of it.

Does anyone know if the PAC AmpPRO AP4-FD21 Aftermarket Amplifier Interface fits the 2017 Mustang gt? Has anyone tried it?

Something to read from @Cathul in the German forums who is into Sound Quality Competitions with his S550.
Maybe he can recommend a DSP?
If a ShakerPlus (in the Mustang) is installed (or in Focus etc. the
Sony system with subwoofer), then the AudioControl module provides either
Variable LineLevel or Fixed LineLevel. This means that you have regular
preamp outputs with up to 4V output voltage (and even with really good quality as
quality, as Denis Hennings said when he installed my system in my Mustang).

With standard audio systems, the ACM delivers high-level signals.

This can be reprogrammed to line level with ForScan.

You can even switch off the factory equalizing.

The addresses in which this can be programmed with ForScan in the ACM module are
module are 727-01-01 and 727-01-02. For Sony systems, one line in the APIM must be
line in the APIM must be changed. The address in the APIM can also be easily found with
Google.

No, it doesn't fit the 2017 Mustangs.
The ACM of the 2017 Mustangs has four outputs... front left/right, rear left/right.
With the Shaker system the signal is already variable line output, with the base system it's variable high level output.

For a DSP i would always recommend a Mosconi DSP or DSP amplifier.
The advantage with using a Mosconi is, that you can also use the Mosconi RCCAN module in case you want to directly connect your phone to the optical/coax DSP inputs (depending on model of Mosconi used) and still have stock OEM controls for volume, balance/fader, tone controls and all that stuff.

The amp pro isn't a dsp, is it?

I did not change the head unit. I have the RF DSP to replace the stock amplifier (9 speaker system). 8 channels all active (no cross overs except some kind of simple setup for the mids and tweeters in the front). All speakers replaced, two Kenwood amplifiers and two RF 10'S. I did a complete replacement that would act like factory but sound good. I somewhat regret it since if I want to go with a better head unit, I would have to switch all to the idatalink system fully. Pretty tough in the 9 speaker and Shaker/B&O systems. I like my solution because sounds good but I do want a huge touchscreen. If I had a bunch of time and money I would try to engineer one.

What model of dsp did you go with? I'm looking to do a 12 inch JL audio 12w3v3 in the truck with a JLAudio 500/1 pushing it. Then for the interior, I'm looking at doing a Focal 3 way component set, with mid bass in the rear with a JL Audio 300/4 pushing those. I just need a clean pre amped signal from the stock shaker pro head unit

I'm just having trouble deciding what it the best device to use to get this clean pre amped signal
