So it was warm in SoCal today and I fired up the car and heard a loud hiss sound and AC only blew hot. 2017 GT Premium with 34,000 miles. I’m assuming it’s the evap issue. My question is will a new one be improved over the old one? Has then been successfully addressed? I need my AC so I will have it fixed but it appears to be an expensive chore.

In the A/C EVAP thread, there were numerous parts revisions listed throughout, but I don’t even know what the most current Ford part # is to date.

Also call the Ford 800#, if you are out of warranty or don’t have an ESP. Ford has assisted owners where the warranty period has expired. They know the EVAP system is an issue….

The issue seems to affect the 2015-2017’s more so than the 2018+. So whatever the revision or vendor change was for the 2018+, maybe try to get that EVAP installed.

Good Idea i will give them a call. But first was in an ESP? And should I take it in to Ford for a specific diagnosis before I call?

ESP = Extended Service Plan (Ford or aftermarket warranty company)

I would get diagnosis first. If diagnosis comes back as being EVAP related, then call Ford 800# and explain that your A/C is not working and diagnosis shows it is related to the common S550 A/C EVAP failure. Ask if they will assist with the cost of repair due to this being a known issue.

Took it to my local shop and they hooked it up to the AC machine and it had plenty of pressure and Freon. So we surmised its more likely a compressor failure. Got a Motorcraft one on the way.
