Hi guys,

I have the opportunity to take a 2016 Mustang in the same spec that I ordered mine, (Magnetic, manual, fastback GT) but I can't have it until December compared to my ordered car which won't be here until June next year.

Question is, should I chop off at least 6 months of my wait and take a '16 model right at the end of '16 or be patient and wait it out until June 2017 for a '17 with Sync 3? From what I've read so far most people prefer the Sync 2 system and as small as it may seem I prefer the look of the car minus the little lump on the roof.

Cheers, Steve.

17 will have better resale value as built at a later date. sync 3 is far superior. i wouldnt touch a 16 model if your that close to getting a 17. sync n2 is a inferior operating system and anyone who thinks it is the same are kidding themselves

I was going to say take it, but then I thought about it. 2016 models stopped being built after June 1st, so it would have been delivered by now (or close to?). Is it serving life as a demo until December or something?

Sync 2 is great btw, I don't care if I'm kidding myself

Sync 2 plays my music and let's me dial my phone with voice controls... good enough for me!

Resale schmesale - take both and sell the first one for the same price as your own one when it turns up ;)

I opted for the earlier car and haven't looked back.
Seriously, I don't even use 1/3 of the functions of Sync 2 so Sync 3 would be a complete waste on me.
RESALE - How long do you plan to own the vehicle? If you're turning it over relatively quickly, the build date will be king. However, if you're planning to keep it for 10 years or so, you'll proabably find people wanting to get their bum into what will then be known as the "first" Mustangs delivered to Aus....
Seriously, you only live once. Why spend half a year waiting for something because it "might" have a slightly superior IT system and/or resale?
Great choice of car and config btw!

you could wait for 18 as bang and olufsen will be the stereo system and i am really jealous . there is always a better feature every year. in hindsight take the 16 at the right price. but i wouldnt be paying top dollar for a older model. but i doubt the dealer is offering discounts either in a real world

Or wait until 2020 for a 10speed quad turbo two cylinder

I love sync 2 it does everything I need and I love you can change the backgrounds.

Do what you want to do. Sync2 works fine in mine and plays music and Bluetooth phone no worries.

Surely this would have to be a '17 spec car? No way it could be a '16 spec being delivered 6 months after they have stopped production of them. '17 spec cars are already on the streets.

Either way I would take it if it was me, the wait is torture towards the end.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Seems like most of you have confirmed the decision I made which is to take the '16 model.

But what are they doing with the car for the next 3 months? Or is it a private sale?

It's not a private sale, it's a brand new '16 but I also can't say what's happening to it for the next three months.

Follow your heart and you will have no regrets, but go in with your eyes open and find out if this car is new, not a demo etc.
I imagine sync2 is great including sync 3, mine will have sync3 but a waste on someone like me as it will mostly be turned off. I want to hear that v8 soundtrack 99% of the time.

Yeah I think I'm a bit like you in that most of what the Sync system can do will be lost on me anyway and I will want to hear that V8 over all else.

It's definitely a new car, it's just that it will of sat around for 4 months by the time I get it.
