I placed my order 7/6/15, understood production did not start until 8/3/15. As of today order is still unscheduled clean, no VIN or dates. Salesman says they have been told no '16 customer orders have been scheduled in past 4 weeks. Anyone know if this is normal changeover issue, or is something else going on?

First few weeks are extra scrutiny, they all have been scheduled. We expect the rest to schedule at the end of the month if they dont find any issues.

Check out some of the other 2016 ordering threads. But your car was most likely ordered as a retail order like most of us. Ford has not given the "ok to buy" yet for the 2016s. When that is given, retail orders will be scheduled. That is estimated to happen on August 31st. The production that started on 8/3/15 are for stock orders which are typically built for dealer inventory and some dealers will order your build as stock if possible. These are usually kept longer after being built for quality control checks. I don't believe anyone who has a stock order has even had their car shipped, though some have already been built.

Thanks! I appreciate the replies. That makes sense. I see you both ordered in June. Looks like I will have to give up my fantasy of taking the convertible to the beach in late September.

I would expect a September build and a October delivery. That is what I am guessing.

Stock orders (orders for cars to go sit on lots) should begin production soon. Last I checked there were still 15s sitting at the factory, meaning they haven't configured the factory's for the 16s yet.

Retail (custom orders) after that.

I had a 2016 on order. However after my dealership couldn't tell me much about ETA, I made some phone calls. After I found out I wouldn't get the car I orderd 6/27 until the middle/end of October (I had missed 1st run of retail orders), I cancelled immediately and picked up a 15 from Nashville.

I see you're in ATL, PM me if you want, what dealership did you order from?

Josh - I ordered at Mall of Georgia Ford, been pleased with their service on my F150 SuperCrew 4x4. I want a convertible with PP, so a 2015 was not an option for me.

Stock orders perhaps. And it just started this week then.

Doesn't really matter though, as OP wont get in on first run of retail orders.

So he's looking at middle October at the earliest.

Stock orders started being built 8/3.
Retail orders won't start being scheduled until early September and won't get built for a couple weeks after that.

Production is what? 300 cars per day? Retail orders should get priority, so order today and you'll still get in on the first couple weeks of production once they start being built.

And yeah, mid October is a good guess.

Retail orders should get priority. I found it rather ridiculous that those of us that knew what we wanted, knew the exact car, ordered it, had paid for it basically, had to wait for the dealers to get cars to attract customers before we would get our pre-orders. Look at every other industry, pre orders come out before regular orders (hence the name )

Some of it has to do with QA. Their mindset is if there are any supplier or quality issues, it's easier to fix them in Area 51 at Flat Rock than have them delivered to pre-order customers. However, this model year changeover is mostly just changing the VIN prefix. New items (other than the hood mounted turn signals) are all appearance/paint/stripe options and shouldn't produce any supply or quality problems.

I'm just slowly filling up the garage with aftermarket parts for a car I don't have yet. "OK to Buy" should come on August 31st. If that happens (it should), the first allotment of retail orders should be scheduled on the night of September 3rd for the following week. Then, retail orders will be added to scheduling every Thursday night for the following week.

Just hope your dealers have submitted them with a "10" priority. Priority should be listed on the priced DORA when it comes back to the dealer from Ford.

Patience and good luck!
That is all...

I didn't get to order my car until 7/7, but I did get a priority 10. Hope I can still have a chance at an early October delivery.
