You are going to ruffle some feathers ...There is or at least was a fairly sizable contingent on the forum that swore up and down the Mustang is on par with BMWs interior and that there were droves of M3 buyers were considering mustangs....

I love the Mustang but I still havent found a buyer that switched from BMW to Mustang....I have seen multiple Mustang owners move to BMW, however.
Traded a 2012 BMW 328 for a 15 GT, granted the interior is not the same but the GT has M4 power for 35k less.

I went from a BMW 135i to a 2011 and now 2016 Coyote manual premium Mustang.

The 2016 Mustang interior is sweeter than any BMW 1 or 2 Series. That's a fact.

If you look at individual pieces, the dash the screen seems very nice. If you look overall, it looks like a kid slabbed these individual pieces together. There is no flow through the dash how each pieces are mounted together.
Same issue with the Camaro. There is no design cues. Just slab the stuff they want on this round shape thing they call the dash.

i apologize if i ruffle some feathers. i simply dont care how fancy or plush the interior of my mustang is. i am more about the visceral driving experience.

give me that amazing s550 look, that howling coyote v8, and i am a happy man. :ford:

I got out of an 08 BMW 550i for my 2015 GT...I will say that as much as I love my S550 Mustang its interior has quite a ways to go to catch up with the E60 5 series I had. Particullarily the seats lol...they were crazy nice. With that being said the last time I owned/drove a Mustang was my 1993 GT many many years ago, lol the new ones have come quite aways since then to say the least.

Went by the local Chevy dealership to check out one of the new Camaros. It was an SS with the auto transmission, loaded out (I believe) at 46K on the window sticker.

As far as the outside goes, I think it's a good looking car. No complaints with that.

On the interior, the design and layout is very, very nice. I like the gauges and dash layout, along with the center console appearance, and love the seats and the doors. Beautiful lines on the doors and I really liked the leather pads on them.

What I didn't like was all the hard plastic. The S550 has hard plastic on the doors and center console, so I can't really beef about that, although I think it's far more evident on the Camaro doors simply due to the shape and sculpted lines of the door panels. The hard plastic on the dash was a truly unpleasant surprise though. I was expecting soft touch materials on the top of the dash, but it's acres of hard plastic. Also, the seams between the front and top of the dash were very evident.

tldr; At first glance, the new Camaro interior looks great. Once you begin to notice all the hard plastic though, that positive 1st impression begins to degrade a bit.

As always, this is my opinion. YMMV.
No doubt the 6thGen interior is better than the 5thGen. But then, the 5thGen was absolutely horrible, so almost anything would be an improvement.

The current Mustang has the best interior, off the factory floor. I owned 2 S197's . There is no comparison on interior. S550 hands down. I also dislike the interior of the GENERALS new Camaro. Passenger side looks horrible. Dislike the lower vents . On interior , the Ford kicks the GM sports car. Nuff said..............:headbang:

Here's my take on the interiors:
Camaro: I think the quality of the materials used are very nice. Soft touch leather in a lot of areas. I think the design is more "put off-ish" than the mustang's. The seats are fantastic, probably the best part about the interior, IMO. The lack of storage is stupid however.
Mustang: The materials used are nice as well, and I think the design is not going to offend anyone, due to its classic layout. The seats are good too. I think the Mustang kills the Camaro in interior storage.

Layout: very close but Camaro-although a lot of this is opinion, I just found the Mustang's to be be boring, but very nicely done.
Materials: toss up
Seats: Camaro
Storage: Mustang

When I went to the auto show last week, I sat in both back to back. Mind you they were just 2SS and Mustang GT Premium WITHOUT the premium interior package, so it was fair game for both:

Camaro: Of course this interior is better than the gen 5! It fit my 5'7.5" body quite well. I liked how driver-focused the interior was, and everything was in reach or easy to get to. Also liked how simple and not flashy it was. For the first time, I was finally able to see over the gauge cluster pod in a new Camaro, as I couldn't see out over the gen 5 in any comfortable position. The seats were comfortable, but not to sporty sporty. The steering wheel is a bit bulky, but not too bad.Yes, the top part of the dash is hard plastic, as are the sculpted doors, but it's not really that bad. The middle portion of the dash feels good though. If there was anything thing I really didn't like, it was how useless the armrest storage is, and the lack of storage in general. Can't put much of anything in there other than phones, cards, change, and small and thin objects. It's also noticeably smaller and more "cramped", but one could argue that it makes for a more "intimate" driving experience, and I'm use to small interiors driving old Porsches, so it doesn't bother me much. The Camaro is more compact, tank and sci-fi esque than the Mustang.

Mustang: Same as 2015, so the layout is still great, it's still retro-ish, still feels good in the right places. It's more airy and spacious feeling than the Camaro, with more stoarge places as well. The steering wheel is also better here. The seats were good as well and on par with the Camaro in terms of sporty. I really don't like the leather in either of them though. Of course there were hard touch plastics in the interior(doors), but it doesn't bother me much, again. It's not like I'm gonna point out how this panel is "this much" softer than the Camaro or vice versa, nor am I gonna be prodding and touching every part of the interior while driving. To me, the Mustang is more traditional, comfortable, and bigger than the Camaro.

I really don't hate or like one more than the other, they're both good interiors better than any generation before it, in materials, comfort, and hopefully longevity. Regardless of the Camaro's faults, it was still nice and new enough, and I will also say that I genuinely liked the Challenger's interior and couldn't find much of anything to hate in it either.

They're all good to me!:headbang:
