Ford will respond for sure. (or responde for your title ;))

You'll see most likely

- a slight HP boost in the EB and GT.
- possible weight reduction with a few panels going to aluminum (they've designed them already, just weren't implemented on 2015).
- new colors
- Sync 3

Ford definitely held some stuff back for the Camaro reveal and will reveal that right after they reveal the Camaro.

The wild card is the Camaro and where it puts the 4 Turbo IF they come out with one. If it's slated as the entry model and their V6 is considered the mid, Ford might have to respond with making their V6 have a premium trim and up the power in it.

The majority of sales with the Camaro are the V6. If Ford can't counter that with the EB they are going to have to respond with doing something to the V6. A lot of people do not want a turbo car.

I dont see why it matters if the camaro is 'lighter'. I would love to see every muscle car on a diet but it won't matter and fanboys will stick to their brand.

The V6 Camaro (at 3806lbs) ran a 5.9s 0-60. I saw a million and a half reviews on the V6 mustang from '11-14 but barely any on the V6 Camaro, yet that car sold like crack, relatively speaking. That car never even got mentioned. The even heavier Challenger has some of the highest owner satisfaction ratings according to CR. That included the cheap, pre-fiat refreshes and a V6 as slow as a stick focus. Don't even get me started on how cheap and poor the camaro's interior design and visibility are, but it still took the sales crown.

And to the whole weight loss issue, most of us should be familiar with some of the lengths Ford went in lightening the S550. IRS, safety gear, and more available kit still account for a net increase. Even without IRS to add, a Camaro on the lighter ATS platform with additional safety gear and options will not make it much (if at all) lighter than the mustangs, and certainly not light enough to put the same deficit on the stang. The car itself cannot shrink too much except a few trimmings on the outside. If the ATS is 3500 lbs a V6 camaro will be around where the EB/V6 is. The V8 with those big ass 6.2's will be right up there with the GT.

and you KNOW Ford will fire back in a few years with more POWA on the GT (and maybe that 10-speed).

Ford has already said that the Camaro is not their competition. They may not respond but reiterate that they are going after the BMW/Audi crowd.

They can say that lol but truth is it IS competition and has been since the 60s.

Them saying Camaro isn't their competition (even though it is) is just good marketing.

I don't think performance specs is what truly sells the bulk of these cars, though. IMO looks and marketing is what sells.

Going after the BMW/Audi crowd doesn't mean that the Camaro isn't their competition.

It just means now they are involved in a segment that many potential buyers for those vehicles are now targets for them also with the redesign.

The Camaro BAR NONE is competition for the Mustang.

You'll have to link that quote because I've never seen them say that.

The Mustang and Camaro sell to the same demographic, so they are competition no matter what Ford says.

If it comes with the 8speed that is in the corvette then that will be a huge performance hit against the mustangs 6speed since who knows when the 10 speed is supposed to come out. Every automaker should just implement the ZF 8speed and just be done with it, such a fantastic transmission and really doesn't make you feel like you are getting less of a car for those that prefer the auto or or just want to transition to one without sacrificing any performance.

:search: I'm at work now and don't have time to search the threads for that quote. IIRC it was in a video interview in the early months of the reveal.
I am not saying that the Camaro isn't completion, only saying that Ford may deflect that comparison if the Camaro comes out much better than the Mustang performance wise.

Certain versions of the car sell to the same demographic here State side. But you can definitely feel them targeting the BMW/Audi market heavily in the newest version. Heck the 2014 GT was just a fraction of a second slower on a track than the M3, a car that cost 2 - 2.5x the cost of the GT. And now with the new interior + all the new electronic options and gizmos you can really tell that Ford has their sights set on them.

The Camaro comes in two versions: Tammy's Cammy and Track. The interior on them have always been "meh." but the track car has always been a fun little track car, that you'd hate to have as your DD, while the Tammy's Cammy model is the perfect poor visibility grocery getter. It's not too much power, and looks "fast." Tammy's Cammy competes with the V6 model range, and one could argue that the Track Camaro competes with the GT PP, but lets be honest, the GT with PP is a far better DD, with better creature comforts, while still having the option of the track.

Fully agree. The new Mustang is really a REAL Gran Turismo vehicle. Comfortable to drive for a long time, tame and easy around town. And if you get into the right foot, it will definitely keep up with nearly anything on the road.

A great, real GT car. Not a muscle car anymore (but it can still hang with that title), but something between sports car and muscle car. GT.

Even the little EB unit is a very good GT.

The video that sprung to mind was this one about what the benchmarks were for sorting out the chassis;

As to the OP's question; I suspect not much except take notes. So much has changed on the the '15 that its WAY too soon to make any additional changes to the car.
