Jim suggest that the 2SS will see $40,000. That would mean a $5000 Premium package. It would certainly help keep weight down, something Ford could have done to help with the weight down.

Word is the Camaro may have gone to a 16 gallon tank. Could save almost 20 in fluid and maybe 5-10lbs in a smaller tank.

That is not the idea Pete and Jim are passing around. This is basically their argument and point. It makes some sense if you see the cost he's adding on top of the 3.6 for the LT1. That is a $41,000 car and again, has very little content equipment wise that the Camaro would find useful.

I suspect an MSRP increase for the Mustang this Gen to be about $10,000 over 7-10 years.

Wanna bet on it?

1SS MSRP w/destination is right at $34,500 as of today for the 2015s. That leaves you only 500 dollars of increase to this next generation. 1SS is going to see a slightly increased content over the last generation and will probably see at least a $1K increase in MSRP w/destination.

You may be right there. But with a current MSRP w/destination of $38,300 that leaves $1700 until the magic 40K mark. I won't bet on this one but don't be surprised if it comes in at $39,995 MSRP w/dest.

Yes, I do. I never take destination in account. MSRP on 1SS will be under 35k.

...and it will still be under 3700lbs?

The ATS-V is at 3700lbs (some say a bit more) and uses CF and Aluminum. It is also on a 61/62 inch track which will not do for a Camaro.

Something has to give... unless they take a hit on every car sold.

Destination is PAID every sale and must be included. You can't get around it. It is law it must be paid. Destination is $995 for Camaro, Destination is $825 for Mustang. Just because YOU choose to ignore it doesn't mean you don't have to pay it. Destination is on the sticker plain and simple. Go try to buy a car without paying it.:lol::lol:

Maybe the base SS will be better optioned than base Mustang.. However, I think deviating a few grand from its price would be a mistake. Wouldn't be surprised if 6th gen costs GM less to make than 5th..

Well maybe carfan doesn't take fluids into account. Maybe without all the fluids it will weigh under 3700 pounds. Fluids are just imaginary weight like Destination charges are imaginary dollars.

It's not part of MSRP.. It's a separate line, is it not?

BUT YOU PAY IT!!! It is part of the sticker price. Everyone pays it. Even if you negotiate your price below invoice Ford will get that money for destination. Destination is part of the sticker price plain and simple. And GM loves to crack you with that $995 destination on the Camaro. Ford slips by with $825 on the Mustang. Of course GM isn't going to tout how Ford beats them on destination costs. All manufacturers love to hide this fee BUT EVERYONE PAYS IT. Your dealer isn't going to ignore that destination cost. They know they will bargain from MSRP w/destination. They probably like to haggle with people like yourself that think MSRP is the "final price". It isn't, MSRP plus destination and guess what you get taxed on destination by your state as well. ;)

Ask Pill.. He doesn't like to count fluids when talking about Mustang weight.. Lol. I think it'll be funny to see what he talks about when Mustang and Camaro are are within 50 pounds if one another trim for trim.

You guys don't seem to understand the disadvantage that Camaro had weight wise with platform it had starting out 5th gen. And to bring Pills logic into it.. Camaro had a bigger gas tank bigger wheels, bigger tired, more air bags, IRS.. That 200 pound difference from Mustang doesn't sound so large anymore.

Just a little more wait time.
