I can't even say with certainty that a reduction in wheelbase will automatically result in a weight loss overall. 10 years ago I would have said no doubt, it will weigh less... Now, I can't account for the content weight (content includes safety).

It very well seems like the 6th Gen is wider than the 5th Gen and nearly the same wheelbase. The weight loss they are calling for would need a 105-106 inch wheelbase and a 61-62 inch track.

The roof is wider, the hood sits lower but the entire front is more bulbous than the 5th's. Still shitty outward visability, maybe a better 180* out the front but about equal from the dash to the visor. I imagine the 6th Gen is wider because it in fact has a wider track than the 5th Gen. This would be good but not good when losing weight. It will have better handling characteristics than the SS for sure just based on track increases, even using the same tire.

The 6th Gen will always need more power and more tire to handle a Mustang on equal ground. If it isn't lighter or the same weight as the Mustang, it will be another expensive round for Chevy. They desperately need a specific platform for the Camaro and a 106-107 wheelbase.

$36,505-$37,995 projected MSRP for 1SS?

$39,995 target for 2SS...

$3,500 "Performance Pack" or Z51 treatment. Target $39,995 for 1LE equipped 1SS? Not sure if it is called a 1LE.

Convertible right after initial launch? Same MY I am assuming. No MSRP projections...

I can tell you right now that GM is looking to rain on the Mustang's parade. Anyone that thinks they aren't trying to beat the S550 in every way is foolish.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had something ready to challenge the Hellcat.

This will only make Ford push the Mustang further performance wise which is good for us.

It could look like the Aztec and the GM fanboys would still buy it and declare it the best Camaro produced to-date. I've owned three different GM performance cars in my lifetime and, while they all put up good numbers, each had issues related to quality and reliability.

I think the current Gen5 looks dated, and if the 6th Gen carries over that cartoony styling, it is unlikely my opinion of the modern Camaro will change. There was a time back in 2009 when I actually considered putting one in my garage next to the Shelby, but I am so glad I did not pull that trigger!

I don't think you are too far off. Seeing 2015 MSRP w/destination currently 1SS at $34500 and 2SS at $38300. I will guess for the 2016 base 1SS $35500 and the 2SS at $39500. I don't see GM holding the line with current prices and a $1000 to $1200 increase seems feasible.

If GM have plans for s550 they should have planned years ago, how can they have all planned for s550 when its just realeased, can GM make that quick of a change, I doubt they can.

Considering these base prices on Chevy's website, the 1SS would experience a $3000-$4500 increase Gen over Gen.

The 2SS's target would be a $2000 increase and the "Performance Package" would stay about the same.

The Corvette increase over $4000 and the Mustang went up about $1300.

I think Ford pulled a fast one and took the S197 up from $29,995 to $31,xxx to mask a large increase the 2015 would have been considered. Some could chalk the nearly $2000 increase to a 2013 refresh BUT, why would a '13 refresh warrant a $2000 increase where the next Gen gets a $1300 dollar boost.

Remember, the 2015-'16 were budgeted to a 3705lbs curb weight in order to undercut the current 2015 Camaro by $500. The more the Camaro brings to the table, the sooner the GT's MSRP increases from lightweighting.

Inside source suggest that a 2SS (Premium GT) will indeed reach $40,000. This would be a $2700 dollar increase alone. I am under the impression that the 1SS will receive the most attention (just as our Base did) as far as interior equipment goes.

Even applying that $2700 to the 1SS's $33,505 settles at $36,200.

Or, the 1SS may take a big hit like the Corvette and push $39,995 alone.

This is something that touches my a$$ when I don't want it to...

The MSRP difference between the ATS and potential 6th Gen. The '15 Camaro starts at $23,700 so, I can accept a $24,900 2016 with the 2.0T.

The issue is, the ATS starts at $33,065 for the sedan 2.5 and has very base equipment. The 2.0T sedan starts at $36,000 and again, has some pretty basic stuff.

How can the Camaro take on the same drivetrains, structural advancements vs. the ATS, grow in size/mass and use the same if not better suspension/brakes/wheels/tires AND, be $11,000 cheaper model for model?

Something has to give here... MSRP, Curb Weight, Package MSRP increase, Vert MSRP increase, Base being stripped... Something has to give way. Hopefully the Camaro doesn't take on a Challenger approach to MSRP model scaling.

You think an A4 is a much better car than an Accord?

Profit margins are large in premium/luxury cars.
