Just heard that there are issues with door alignment on the production of the Mustang right now. This is expected as its the initial run and I don't know if I should be feeding the fire with this info. I do think it is important and relevant for you all to know though. It's also important to know that these things are normal in the start up of production on a new vehicle!
Do you know folks at FRAP or is this information from people on the engineering side? And yes, if folks can handle it, it's good to know that this stuff is being worked on now ahead of the next production wave :)

Given all the confusion, I asked Tricia in Ford Service whether or not Stock orders are definitely due to be scheduled and arrive earlier than Retail orders and here is her response.

-The difference between stock and retail is normally stock vehicles are ordered to be in dealer stock, and retail orders are designated to a customer. Unless a dealer specifically assigned a different priority to an order, they shouldn't process/ship any faster than the other.

As of right now, regardless of the order priority, all vehicles are scheduled to start arriving in the fall.

I can only provide what my tracking system is showing me. With that being said I can only advise individual consumers based on the updates received. The truth is I do not have access to a system that displays a specific month on when most vehicles will start hitting the dealerships.

In regards to your unique order I do not have any updates at the moment. We are still waiting on the VIN and an ETA. Once an ETA is provided I’ll be able to provide a better estimate of when your vehicle will arrive.

Keep checking in with me for updates.

Have a great day!

Tricia

They actually have to completely demolish the entire assembly line and tear down the building and rebuild it from scratch to fix the door alignment issue. It should delay production 7-10 years.

With all due respect to Tricia , the highlighted part is not entirely true.

I have seen it over and over again, specially with hot items like the 2015 Mustang, in the past any time we had a customer on a unit, we ordered an identical unit for stock and the stock ALWAYS comes in before the retail unit.

November at the earliest? Well that completely blows. Car just gets more and more expensive as my trade in puts on more miles and wear :/

My dealer told me I'll need to wait until November for my 2015 GT Premium I ordered in early June. When I ordered, he told me I had to put a $1000 deposit down so I did. When I placed the order, he also said that I should expect a VIN in about a week and I should keep checking my email. When the VIN never came, I called him a few times and finally got a hold of him a few days ago. He now said I was the first person to place a retail order at his dealership (even though when I first ordered he said somebody else had ordered the 2015 50th anniversary edition). I could have ordered from some other dealer, but I figured they all process the orders the same, all have the same price on a brand new car (with X-Plan), and will all get the new car around the same time. He never told me I could get the car quicker if he placed the order as a dealer stock item.

I spoke to a friend and he told me the reason the dealer gets the dealer stock cars first is because they can sell the first cars that arrive for more money. If the dealer only gets a limited number of new cars, they want to sell them for the most profit possible. Pre-ordered cars like the one I ordered don't really have any incentive to get me the car first since I'm a guaranteed sale. The people who already ordered the car are not going to cancel their order and lose the deposit, so they will wait as long as needed to get the car.

Maybe the above theory about the dealer making more money on a dealer-stock car is totally B.S.. Instead, the theory somebody else said that Ford doesn't want the retail customers who pre-order cars to have problems that will be fixed in some future production run is true, so delay those pre-orders a bit for the customer's own good... That was very considerate!

In any case, I am still excited to finally get my new car since I never had a new car before.

I will be very interested to see if many dealers are able to get away with selling vehicles over sticker that are non limited run vehicles. As an AZX plan dealership we will not be able to do this since most of our business is Ford Plan Business. The vehicle is not a limited run so the market of enthusiast who really are willing to pay much money over sticker just to have the car a few months early seems slim. Time will tell and I'm sure someone some where is willing to pony up to be one of the first with a new 2015 Mustang. I just do not think that this will be a widespread trend.

Just like any car deal, not all these '15 Mustangs are going for the same price (X-Plan). It's quite possible to get these cars below invoice. I have. I got my car $880 below the invoice price and $1,000 below X-Plan. I also only gave a $500 deposit rather than a $1,000, but some guys on here didn't even have to give a deposit.

It is your first new car purchase as you said and it's understandable that you don't know how to negotiate the best deal. On my first new car purchase I got hosed. I basically paid MSRP minus a $2500 manufacturer incentive. But that asshole lost my future purchases and I assassinated his character on the customer satisfaction survey. However, it taught me a valuable lesson and now I got a better deal this time around.

Wow, $880 below invoice, that's a great deal! What are you trading in?

I thought so. I originally thought there was going to be a "catch" like the infamous "document fee" at the end of the paperwork. My dealer is the largest volume dealer in my state so I guess that maybe helps? We already did all the paperwork, tax & tags plus all fees are calculated. They only got me for $160 in the document fee and I saw no substantial fees to offset the great price they offered me.

I am trading in my 2014 base GT with 7k+ miles. It will have 10k by the the I trade it in. Here's the "catch" if there is any at all. They are giving me $23k for it. Of course I think it's low and want $25k for it but I believe that's unreasonable. Keep in mind new '14 GT base models are currently advertised at the same dealer for $26,600 online because of the massive incentives available. I've already got my trade in price locked in writing, too. Unless I put on an obscene amount of miles or smash it, it stays as agreed and signed upon. Now, I could always choose to private sell it but I don't feel like it and it's also my DD so I won't be able to time it out where I sell it the same week I'm taking delivery. I might do it though. I am very satisfied with how my dealer worked with me.

I called other dealers to ask if they'd match the $880 below invoice quote and some actually got mad at me for I guess having the audacity to expect below invoice pricing on a 2015 GT. One dealer said, and I quote: "It's a shame they have to sell cars at slash and burn prices to earn people's business." LOL WTF?! He said it like it was disgraceful they had to resort to pricing cars that low to move units. As if his dealership's awesome customer service was more desirable to customers than awesome car prices in order up earn their business. I've seen a couple guys on here also get their '15s for a few hundred below invoice. Larger dealerships and volume pushers will in my experience be more willing to sell anything below invoice.

wilson68944: Sounds like you got an amazing deal on a 2015 Mustang GT that hasn`t even been launched yet! So good a Deal, that its seems (almost) too good to be true! For a Ford Dealership to sell what should be a hot commodity Vehicle, the all new 2015 Mustang for $880 (under) Invoice and just await their "Hold Back" seems ludicrous even if its the Largest Ford Dealership in the Country. Brandon Ford outside of Tampa Florida is the biggest Ford Dealership in FL and possibly the Nation and they wouldn`t sell a 2015 Mustang at $880 (under) Invoice. Better look over your Purchase & Sale Agreement with a 10X Jewelers Loop for where they slipped in some "fee`s" using what they call in the business, "Indian Math". Maybe they feel the (meat) in the Deal is in your 2014 Mustang your trading in. I`ve bought 23 new Cars in my lifetime and I found one thing to be a constant. If something (seems) too good to be true, usually its (not). Good Luck!
