2015 Mustang Production / Ordering Schedule

Lets say someone like (myself) Special Orders say a 2015 Mustang Convertible in "Base" 3.7 V6 Trim with only adding say Automatic Transmission and the Optional Spare Tire. Ordering the Convertible in "Race Red" with the Standard Black Cloth Interior and the Standard Black Fabric Cloth Convertible Top, thats it, period! MSRP of $31,315 (delivered price). How long do you thing a 2015 Mustang Convertible ordered that way with a low MSRP of only 31K will stay on the lot? You tell me?

Maybe One day, maybe 50 days. Maybe 200 days.

Specially with the convertible part added, people a are VERY picky to exactly what they want. Trust me, cause I deal with this DAILY.
Not just limited to Mustangs either! We have a row of F150s in all different color and option and we still have to dealer-trade to get unit for picky customers. Mustang buyers are even more picky, and rightfully so! :ford:

This is spot on. Just because you like something doesn't mean that everyone else does. People also have must haves also. I showed a fusion today to a customer that was exactly what they wanted less a moonroof so now I'm dealer trading for a car I already have except it has a moonroof. Why settle when you are spending 20-50 grand I know I wouldn't.

I am beginning to lose confidence even though I already ordered my mustang, its looking more and more like I will not be seeing or driving this car until the beginning of next year, I can understand a November date which I don't mind but picking a handful of retail orders and a butt load of dealer stock just delays people who have ordered... true the dealers will get their damn stock but at the cost of a person that ordered sucks... I guess if it pans out the way it is looking, it will be just in time for the next tax season to put more money down unfortunately my trade in will have lost more value....grr... what a pain

I'm a little disappointed that my Fiancée's Comp Orange PP GT that was ordered on 5/22 and is still without VIN or scheduling. At this rate I'm probably going to tell her to wait until the spring. Getting it going into the Maryland winter isn't worth it.

Me and you both man. I put my order in on Friday 5/23 and I still have the same "order processing" crap on there I had that weekend in May. It's been two months without so much as a VIN. My dealer conveniently cashed my $500 deposit the following Monday though.

True....I'm not personally slamming seabee or anyone else, it's everyone here on this thread going on an on and on....crying about not getting their cars.

You're absolutely right. I'm spending 40k and I'm getting exactly what I want. I've made compromises before and won't again. I also prefer ordering unless it's absolutely urgent I need a car. Which it isn't. This sounds anal but I'm going to refuse dealer prep in so far as dealer detailing because 8/10 times the guys your paying $8.50 in the back to detail don't care because you're not paying them enough to care and they scratch your car up. It's inevitable.

Bro, you're going to make enemies fast with that kind of attitude. Let them complain if they want. If it takes 6 months before it arrives they can. They're ordering a Ford not an exotic McLaren. There shouldn't be half year waits between ordering and delivery on a Ford.

When did you place your order?

Hot damn, I finally showed up on COTUS!

Ordered on 7/10 and was wondering if I'd ever show up and it finally popped up today. Funny how excited you can get about "In Order Processing".

Thanks. I originally thought I'd have to wait until August as my dealer told me they had no July allocations. (They still might not I don't know.) So I figured it wouldn't show up on COTUS until August when they got their allocation. And I still don't know if it is for dealer stock or private order.

Whatever the case, I'm in there and now the extra long wait begins.

I wasn't expecting a guaranteed delivery... I know the process of ordering a new vehicle... last two cars were done that way, even for my Audi tt when they first came out for usa.... I did not wait this long.... truck met me whee I got back home from deployment....just saying there should be a higher percentage of retail/special orders with respect to dealer stock. The wait can be used as an advantage to save up more... I was anticipating late September from the get go... it just looks unlikely with dealer priority

Why in the World did you give Plantation Ford a $1000 Deposit to order a 2015 Mustang to begin with? Is there shortage of Ford Dealerships near you? How about AutoNation Ford, Sawgrass Ford, Pompano Ford, Wayne Akers Ford, Mullinex Ford, etc. I personally would have left no more then either $250 or a max of $500 Deposit. They know damn well, if you decided (not) to purchase this Mustang, they would have 10 Buyers lined up to pay probably full MRSP. $1000, whats that a Certificate of Deposit, "CD"? How much interest does it yield? LMAO

Because $1000 is reasonable. If you ever wanted to order a car that did not match the option/color combo's the regional rep gives the dealers based on years of market research that dealer is a moron for not making it painful for you to back out. I can assure you that you would be very unlikely to order anything in New England for anything less than $1K short of knowing the dealer personally (ie bought several cars in the past) This is a product service business after all and floor planning some oddball combo car that sits on the lot for 9-18 months tends to get the attention of the Controller and in turn the owner(s). Managers typically don't want that kind of attention.

Many of us are buying ordered cars with our names on it, we never had a poll tracking if the car was a true retail or stock order vs. deposit. Deposits are typically non refundable. If you signed anything you entered into a contract. My non-refundable deposit is refundable if it comes in not to my specifications. Just because you thought you were smarter than the dealer who allowed you to write something like "Fully Refundable" near where you signed doesn't mean you'll have an easy time getting that refund because it is a signed contract and if the dealer fulfills their part of the contract (delivering you what you ordered) you don't really have a case.

Also what is $1K on a $30K-40K purchase? I bet you would have to pony up some cash upfront to get a builder to build you a house, or rent an apartment. I see no difference. It just commits you to follow through on a simple business transaction. It's really no more complicated than that.

Exceptions to think about are any ECOBoost orders, being pushed hard, will be volume car, not much risk for a dealer. Majority ordered Premiums, again a volume car, although I am not a fan personally, any of the bright colors are not a bad thing to have in the showroom or parked out front, it drives traffic into the dealer in turn it sells a lot of F-150's and Fusions. :threadjacked: Sorry.

It has been stated over and over. Your order was either submitted as a dealer stock order or retail order. I ordered on 5/20 and still have no VIN. Why? My car was a retail order and not dealer stock. My dealers 2 stock orders have VINs. My dealer doesn't order custom orders on new model releases to protect the customer in case there are issues. I agree and am fine with that approach.

I have ordered 2 other mustangs before, including a 2000 Cobra convertible that was ultimately cancelled due to the whole 1999 Cobra HP issue. As the old saying goes...good things come to those who wait.
