Just The Basic Facts

Thanks for sharing.Thank you. It's not top secret info as we all know the car is being built and most of the specs on it. I just don't like when people on forums spout crap they don't know and play it off as fact. Like the S550 chassis is just a massaged S197.
I could have posted all about me seeing S550 front and rear fascias 1.5 years ago but I didn't. THAT would have gotten me fired.
MP1 (Mass Production) is next week. MP2 aka J1 is in August.
You fanboys satisfied now??? :gossip:
Yeah...people with manufacturing know how.![]()
It isn't???I just don't like when people on forums spout crap they don't know and play it off as fact. Like the S550 chassis is just a massaged S197.
This one is! :ford:MP1 (Mass Production) is next week. MP2 aka J1 is in August.

Should have just said that in the first place! I guess it's nice knowingMP1 (Mass Production) is next week. MP2 aka J1 is in August.
Right, that's essentially how I characterized it yesterday. 7/14 is very likely not a date that means they're going to be producing 1000 cars a day. It's likely the first day after the break, and they'll be starting training in a single shift with all the experts on the line for the duration. Then they go two shifts once they get more 'experts', then ramp up from there.Ya'all have to quit whipping the pony. I posted earlier how production will be starting. Don't read into dates too much, they are ETICs(Estimated Time of Completion...note Estimated), production managers like to hit or beat them, but sometimes they slip due to unforeseen problems. I have waited many years for this Mustang and spent a lot of time managing production in the past. It isn't exact(but close), don't get pitch forks out to jab folks. The entire process is huge from the glass house down to the dealerships. There are hundreds of people who have to be choreographed to get you a car. I don't care where you work, look at the logistics behind getting you supplies and service if you need it. Now, look at Ford and all of their product lines, it's an amazing feat to get so many pieces working in harmony to crank out many cars a day. I used to tell the production guys who worked for me "Slow is steady, steady is fast" Meaning you start slow, make fewer mistakes, pass QC hurdles and before you know it your going faster than if you actually tried to go fast in the first place and turn out a better product. When your customer demands faster and you change your process by cutting corners and decreasing safety, you fail, your customer and your investor/owner.:amen:
Good points. I'm actually not disappointed at all that mine won't be in the first batches being produced. Let Ford get some of the kinks out and they will be online and running smoothly when mine is produced. On top of that. These early build cars are going to be sitting out in the elements for a few weeks I would assume for QC and the like. Lots of sun/heat cycles for baking the paint and interior before it would ever get to you. Not to mention countless opportunities for birds to crap all over them or storms to drop hail, etc. Really its not bad like I present it though. Cars stay out on dealer lots for far longer. Whatever the case, I'm convincing myself to be patient.Right, that's essentially how I characterized it yesterday. 7/14 is very likely not a date that means they're going to be producing 1000 cars a day. I would be shocked if it were a 2 week process, and 4 weeks as mentioned above seems much more reasonable. Although someone did say they got a 7/29 build date, which is really only two weeks. But maybe it's just a handful of stock orders being thrown in the queue with loads of QC around it.
I realize this is all just because it's the next topic of discussion and people are needing something to do, but really the important part of this next stage is when YOUR car actually gets it's VIN and gets a build week. All the other dates are really irrelevant other than providing something to talk about.
PS. To the person asking about how to find out about the build week, I got that from the dealer. It's not on cotus yet.
There will be some MP1 S550's built starting tomorrow but 99% of the production will be CD391 Fusions. They will run their normal two shift schedule.Right, that's essentially how I characterized it yesterday. 7/14 is very likely not a date that means they're going to be producing 1000 cars a day. So the picture is getting clearer. That seems very logical. The media and special events (like pace car or state fair queen car) need cars too and those would be perfect for that. There will be some MP1 S550's built starting tomorrow but 99% of the production will be CD391 Fusions. They will run their normal two shift schedule.
What happens in MP1 is that they ramp up production incrementally so the line workers can train/practice building the car. Here is when they tweak production ergonomics processes.
MP1 cars will be press and executive eval vehicles.

Is that a new name for six sigma and MI&P or your terminology? I like it, if I ever go back into management I'd use that to describe the aforementioned processes on my resume:clap2: (most likely won't happen, I'm too happy now)Here is when they tweak production ergonomics processes.
