I've gotta add a little to this thread about the "okay to buy" term. That is NOT the date that cars can be sold. Everyone seems to be interpreting it as the day that dealers can sell cars. Absolutely incorrect!!!

"Okay to buy" date is the date that Ford will start scheduling retail orders for regular 2015 Mustangs. Stock orders have been scheduling for several weeks already. Those cars will be available to sell immediately upon arriving at dealerships, even if they show up before 9/9.

From what I understand, the only retail orders being built before the "okay to buy" date are the LE 50th models, as they are all supposedly being built before the regular 2015's begin production.

Essentially, every new model year for every model of Ford, stock orders get scheduled first while retail orders have to wait in the queue until the "okay to buy" is achieved. This way, any early glitches will be limited to stock vehicles and not somebody's special order. The 9/9 okay to buy is just an estimate at this time as Ford won't actually nail down the exact date until production is running smoothly with stock orders first.

Thanks for the clarification Five Oh Brian. I was definitely getting confused with what that term meant based on all the posts here.

When I first got my Corvette running it was to Low Rider. I've always sworn that La Grange is THE driving song. Anyone in a muscle car should cruise to this as often as possible. So I promised myself the first sounds through my 15 would be this Americana driving anthem. I'm so excited by the 9/9 news I'm listening now. :)

Classic song that just makes you jam for sure. I think Golden Earrings "Radar Love" is my favorite driving song.

friend of mine has a retail order (priority 10) and his build date is 8/11. Not an LE. Definitely before 9/9. Or am I misunderstanding what you said?

DID ANYONE CATCH THAT JOB #1 DATE OF 7/14!!!

July 14th is Job 1 for the fastback? Is that correct? Thought it was August 11th.

Can I get another FUCK YEAH!!!
Anyone notice that the Job 1 Date is a month ahead of schedule!?

July 14th instead of August 11th
Lol I think people noticed. Why do you think everyone is freaking out. :)

Great news indeed.

Also Free Agent made a keen observation based on what we heard about the FRAP shutdown. The dates seem to match up perfectly:

Wait, I remembered this post from Mustangchief about the FRAP shutdown...

"If you don't hear any new S550 news by Friday, don't expect anything after the 27th until the 14th of July. Ford is doing it's summer shutdown. The FRAP guys over in the BO forum say they will start slowly running Mustangs down the production line about the 3rd week of July. I'd imagine these are for training, adjusting robots, and producing crash test cars. Hopefully the "OK to Sell" is complete by the 11th and we can really start tracking."

They get back on the 14th. That would match with that date. :)

But can we all be rest assured that the new build date is 7/14 which was bumped up from 8/11? This will only mean our new cars will arrive sooner wether they are stock or retail.

Here we seem to have some contradiction again. I hope your friend is correct about a retail not stock order.

Why exactly if Ford had built ALL initial dealer stock orders before the 9/9 date would they not start building customer orders before that time? It doesn't make sense to me. Granted yes it may take them the whole 7/14 to 9/9 timeframe to build all dealer stock orders.

Whatever the case it is still good news. The initial holds for QC should be ended by 9/9 and any produced in mid to late September should be in our hands by mid to late October I would think at latest. (Or at least I hope). I've got to have some late October/early November Fall weather cruising time. :)

When I ordered mine in May, my dealer said not to expect mine until November. He said I should just buy off the lot, I'd get it sooner. I, of course, didn't believe him. But I guess that makes sense. I just got my test drive scheduled and the earliest they could give me at different dealer than where I bought it from was 10/4.
