I've gotta add a little to this thread about the "okay to buy" term. That is NOT the date that cars can be sold. Everyone seems to be interpreting it as the day that dealers can sell cars. Absolutely incorrect!!!
"Okay to buy" date is the date that Ford will start scheduling retail orders for regular 2015 Mustangs. Stock orders have been scheduling for several weeks already. Those cars will be available to sell immediately upon arriving at dealerships, even if they show up before 9/9.
From what I understand, the only retail orders being built before the "okay to buy" date are the LE 50th models, as they are all supposedly being built before the regular 2015's begin production.
Essentially, every new model year for every model of Ford, stock orders get scheduled first while retail orders have to wait in the queue until the "okay to buy" is achieved. This way, any early glitches will be limited to stock vehicles and not somebody's special order. The 9/9 okay to buy is just an estimate at this time as Ford won't actually nail down the exact date until production is running smoothly with stock orders first.
