Job Last is the last day of production for the model year, just as Job 1 is the first day of production for the model year. Therefor, the last 2014 Mustang will be built on June 20th, while the first production 2015 Mustang will be built on August 11th.

I keep hoping (in vain most likely) for an announcement that moves that August 11 date to the left. I am not a patient man.

I am too. That is almost 2 months of downtime between model years. That seems a bit much time to switch over, but I guess it is a totally new vehicle.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I'm afraid of big markups if inventory is tight. I know there are a few dealers on the site but not sure where they are located.

Did your dealer give an idea of when orders may begin? Everything I've read points to the dates in this thread but wonder if dealers have gotten any more info.

If your dealer has markups simply go to another dealer or wait. Never justify ADM's or markups by paying. When their cars sit on the lots because of overly high prices maybe they will get the message.

He said"when the order banks open" they read these forums too, he told me there are some on here that know more than them.

Soooo I was reading twitter and came across this...

http://www.autonews.com/article/20140413/OEM03/304149978?template=mobile

not much in there except:

"Some Ford dealers say consumer interest is already high even though they won't be able to place orders until August."

Can't even ORDER til August!?!?
I would take this with a grain of salt. If the original schedule that was in the Ford Fleet bulletin is the one, then the order lead times originally posted make sense in order to ramp up the supply chain to BUILD in August. Unless there is some delay because of what was encountered with the tooling trial cars that are built now, I think ordering will be in May.

The articles get these kinds of things wrong all the time, confusing production timing with orders and the other way around. I do hope that this is not true:

"It's going to be in very, very short supply when it comes to market because we're getting all sorts of inquiries," says Paul Thiel, owner of Palm Springs Ford in Cathedral City, Calif. "They're not just people asking but people wanting to place an order."

Sounds like a sales tactic...not a statement of fact.

Haha, that's my local dealership. Guess I won't be going to these guys for my '15 if they're already salivating over the "rarity"(markups) of these mustangs.

Talked to Ford yesterday at Barrett Jackson and they said ordering opens during the summer as well.

He also didn't deny there is more aluminum on the cars then just the front end....and just smiled

Well if any of the expertise is applicable here Ford dabbled in full aluminum suspension with the DEW98 platform (which is still the chassis of the formidable Jaguar XF series of sedans). If I remember correctly DEW98 almost became the 2005+ mustang chassis but was too cost prohibitive at the time due to all the aluminum. Now it seems that economy of scales will make aluminum more feasible for large scale production.
