I didn't say everyone at Ford failed, I meant that someone did. But thank you for eloquently placing the blame. :)
I would say the people signing off on the styling were balancing what would be stylistically appreciated vs letting something out on the market that would be reviled.

This was likely not an easy decision, given the timing implications. And I give a big KUDOS to all the stylists, engineers, and marketers who have likely poured a lot of passion into this after the call was made to re-work what had already been done.

In my opinion, while disappointing to have not hit that timing milestone, I'd rather wait for a product that is enticing. To me, this car is very enticing.

For anyone else interested, my dealer just called today to tell me that they had just received their allocation for the first production run: a grand total of two! Glad I was the first in.

Based on past history, this seems inconsistent with the way it was done with the 2005 and 2010 introductions. Allocations usually were know around the time the order guide came out (say within about 6-8 weeks ahead of time).

Since the order banks don't open until May, if the dates in the first post are indeed the ones, it seems a bit early.

I do plan to check with my dealer to see if they have this information already.

I didn't follow the process very closely last time I order; actually ordered rather late in the cycle (December), so you may be right. I've got a small town dealer who is rather excited about the new 'stang, but he seems to be confident about the info he is giving me, said that he should have the order guides in 4-6 weeks. Here's hoping he knows his stuff.:)

Update from Blue Oval:

The order guides are usually released on or about the date that the Unscheduled Order Bank (USOB) opens. We're all anxious to see the 2015 Mustang Order Guide but I wouldn't count on it being released early. If it's released early it'll be a pleasant surprise but I wouldn't count on it based on Ford's past practice.

It's important to note for those that may not be familiar with Ford's regular process for new vehicle production and introductions... Ford will build and park 4-6 weeks of production before the initial shipping release. Vehicles will be produced and go through the normal quality inspections and then every vehicle will be re-inspected until Ford meets the quality standard required in order to start shipping vehicles to dealers. As such, I wouldn't expect the 2015 Mustang shipping release to happen until about October 1st meaning dealers probably won't start seeing the new Mustangs hit the ground until mid October! For much of the USA, dealers are going to completely miss the Mustang "season" and I expect that once the initial Mustang production is shipped nationwide that most of the production for at least several months is going to be produced for the "Sun Belt" states where Mustang demand is more uniform on a monthly basis.

I have a meeting Monday morning with our Ford Zone Manager and I'm sure that the 2015 Mustang will come up in the conversation. It's still early so I don't him to have much if any new information but if I do learn anything new I'll pass it on through this forum.
mid-October would suck..... :tsk:

Note to self: Patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue…ah, this is going to get old real fast. Guess I should just plan to enjoy life and the spring and summer until October rolls around.

I'll be ordering when the banks open. If it has problems I'll let Ford fix it. If not, I'll supercharge it. If I don't like it, I'll trade it in. Just a car, there will be tens of thousands eventually.
Agreed. I've been on a call list from my local dealer since last December. Already got my X-Plan ready as well.

Given the possible timing that we are hearing, it has me worried that they may delay the convertible into next year's Spring. We have only seen one convertible prototype that I know of and the fact that the vert actually has a different rear quarters adds a little more complexity to the production that I think they might just wait until these can roll off the line with high volume in the warmer weather months.

I hope I'm wrong. Like some of you guys I am ready to order when the banks open but I want a rag top.

Last we heard, the coupe and convertible will be staggered launches about 3 months apart, so it won't be too far off. Definitely should not have to wait until Spring next year.

If I remember right Ford did that with the 05 Mustang in the Fall of 04 and it worked out ok for them. I'd rather them launch it with a high level of quality control then rush and deal with recalls.
