I don't know if I should be complaining or not, but when I tried to order my new Mustang in third week of May, the dealer was not ready to take my order and told me to come back next week then the following week. When he did take my order on 6/2/14, he took a $1000 deposit and told me he would email me the VIN in about a week. He never mentioned that I could have ordered as dealer stock instead of retail. After checking http://www.cotusb.ford.com/, I found he probably did not submit my order to Ford until 7/11/14 since that is the date shown as the "ordered on" date. I still don't have a VIN today. When I told him I never got a VIN around a month ago, he said he will try to get a dealer stock order for me. When I checked his dealer stock inventory (cars being built for the dealer before my retail order), there was no car ordered that was the same as mine.

I feel frustrated that I put $1000 down as early as my dealer would take the money (he told me I was the first order), but yet I won't get my new car until after other people get their cars. As a customer who pre-orders and puts a deposit to get my new model car as early as possible, then is told that anybody who walks in the day the dealer stock cars arrive can buy a car possibly months before my pre-order with deposit seems wrong. I also feel frustrated when I see some other people getting their VINs that have ordered around the same time as me. Maybe most people still don't have their VINs yet who ordered around the same time I did.

So Let me ask you guys a quick question. Can you post your order date from http://www.cotusb.ford.com/ website as well as if you have a VIN and if your order was retail or dealer inventory? I'll start:

The original order I placed was 5/24 or 5/22, something like that. It's still in the system and does not have a VIN. It's a retail order, or order type 1, priority 10.

The dealer placed some stock orders on 7/3, and when he found that his allocation picked up the stock orders before my retail order, he changed one of the stock orders to match my specs. That one has a VIN now and is to be built soon.

From Our Ford Rep. After more digging, he found that they have started scheduling the LE's very recently for other regions.
All I can do at this point is assure you that he has told me that your Mustang is #1 priority in our region. Additionally, he said that you could expect your vehicle to arrive sometime in "November"...but please keep in mind with factory builds delivery dates can vary depending on factory delays. I will most certainly keep you up to date as I receive more information.

I thought retail orders won't start getting scheduled until 9/11 or 9/22?

There should be no surprises here except if you guys get a vin and a build date before then.

Hey guys just ordered a GT Performance Pack today and cant wait till it's ready. Where is it that people are checking all of the order statuses though? I don't have a VIN number yet, is there anything I can view now or in the coming weeks?

Don't know if this helps, but my dealer only asked for a $300 non-refundable deposit. He acknowledged that the dealer allotment cars would come in first followed by custom orders. He further explained that any first run bugs would have a better chance of being corrected in the custom order cars which I think makes sense. I was frankly a little worried about first model-year problems, but not enough to wait a whole year for this fabulous car.

That's a good question. Not sure if they'd take a stock order and give you A plan when they were expecting to make some good money on selling it to the public. If you find out, pass that on, I'm curious to know.

But regardless I ... :hail:

They can technically give you A plan on any car as long as it's not Raptor Shelby. They also can refuse to honor the A plan as well some dealers simply do not know how to handle the plan and paperwork that comes with it. Though they should want to help you since they do make money still (Ford reimburses them)
