I struggled with the choice, and decided I really wanted something other than black, I wanted the large LCD display, I wanted nav, I really wanted heated/cooled seats and the selectable drive modes, I wanted Sirius radio, the Homelink garage door opener, the extra lighting, and several other things. Cost gave me pause, but it will be the car I want and plan to keep for many years. At that, I couldn't/didn't order the 401A upgrade that most are getting. I won't benefit from the Shaker Pro, I'm the only driver so I don't benefit from memory seats, and at that point I was paying $1795 for BLISS, which I think I can contentedly do without. Choices.

That's the beauty of 400A/401A being optional. You can get 300A, no skin off anyone's nose, and we'll all be happy!

Let's take a look at what some of those options cost in a car roughly in the same price class as the Mustang, the CLA250:

Leather seats: $1,500
Premium Package*: $2,300

Not available: Cooled seats; illuminated door sills; diffuser; "selectable drive modes."

Ambient lighting and aluminum trim are standard.

* - Premium Package includes dual zone climate control; heated front seats; Sirius; upgraded audio system; touchscreen media interface; garage door opener; auto-dimming rearview and side-view mirrors; and a compass.

Sooooo... that's about standard rate for those upgrades. I mean, the upgraded interior, with the leather and the big touch screen and the aluminum dash and the heated / cooled seats and the ambient lighting and the real sound system... that's not worth $4K to you? You're going to have to spend every day in that car.

Who, me? Dealer gave me the build week when he gave me my VIN. Ford Service confirms current build week for my car is end of August. Still not showing in http://www.cotus.ford.com/, but that's because the dealer put my order in as one of his allocation in his initial stock order.

You forgot to mention heated mirrors ;-) they come in handy on the frosty days
