33 pages of bickering. Some people expected a little better, some people are satisfied where it's at. Doesn't seem very productive to go after each other page after page, citing EPA testing procedures and regulations. I mean, does anybody really want to talk about the EPA fuel economy tests? This is a Mustang forum. I thought the idea was for people to have fun discussing the Mustang. There's room for valid criticism, but 33 pages of roundabout debates? Jesus.

There really isn't much else to discuss at this point. I imagine there would be a 33 page discussion if Ford released that they were using torx screws instead of bolts or snaps on the air filter cover.

But ... but ... torx screws are neat! *ducks*

You can`t plant cotton and expect to gather corn. If you want a high performance Sports Car such as the 2015 Mustang Fastback/Coupe or Convertible and you desire to feel the g-forces push you ass firmly back into your seat, by the GT V8 and stop bitching about MPG! If you want excellent performance and practical drivability, consider a Ford C-Max SE Hybrid. Over 38 MPG City and Highway combined average in Fuel Economy, plenty of storage similar to an Escape and not bad looking either. Just decide what you want and what your primal needs are and simply pull the trigger. I did and I`m quite happy. Accordingly, there will will soon be a new 2015 Mustang Base V6 Convertible sitting in my Driveway next to my 2013 C-Max SE Hybrid, easy!

Oh s**t, lol! I averaged 18 on mine with 3.73 gears
I'm assuming yours is an auto?
Yes it was. My mileage was almost solely the result of my driving habits. I drive very little highway and mostly short, stop and go trips. I had a BAMA 93 tune and I enjoyed my driving. I can afford the gas and I will enjoy spirited driving in my 2015.

Not to beat a dead pony (but why not)...I was browsing through the Ford mag I got months back and was looking at it and I knew I read somewhere about the improved fuel economy in the V6 and V8....so much for that...

Do you not understand the difference between claimed MPG and actual MPG?

Ford has gotten burned with lawsuits so they are more careful now. Actual fuel economy has improved. It's time to move on...

Do you not understand that the lawsuits didn't apply ever to the Mustang and that their Mustangs last year were not involved in those lawsuits?

Time to comprehend the difference.

So let's wait until lawsuits happen instead of getting ahead of the problem? Yea that makes sense.

Listen, you can pound your fists all you want about the sticker figures but I don't see the point until we get real world numbers when you will be proven wrong. There are people here that know the truth behind the claimed figures.

The documented information on the sticker is all Ford has to stand on. Its great if we get more mileage and I will be a happy camper. That means jack squat when we are talking about real world EPA data that Ford can claim and sell to its customers. What is a salesman going to do, suggest the MPG numbers are better than they are and wink at the customer? Im obviously making a joke and light of the situation but it really is what it is.

Agreed, how bout lets call a spade a spade and be done with it. Ford said they improved the fuel economy. New window stickers do not reflect that. What's on the window sticker is all the basic customer cares about when comparing fuel economy. Therefor in the customers eye's, Ford did not improve fuel economy. Just because real world fuel economy might be better than EPA doesn't mean that knowledge will get to the average consumer. It would take a dramatic improvement in the real world vs EPA data for that to become public knowledge outside of a current owner. As such, that "improvement" can't be marketed and sales will suffer slightly due to the downgrade. Had they been comfortable with increasing the EPA data due to the improvements they made, even if it was only 1mpg. It could have been marketed much better. Improvement is always a benefit in trying to sell your product. Especially in the world of Fuel Economy now a days. I will repeat, if this is what Ford has indeed done, Ford needs to officially change the 13&14 Mustang EPA numbers to reflect it so they can market the improvement. You can make excuses all you want but it is what it is...a spade is a spade.

I have to agree with DivineStrike. As much as we want to believe they increased efficiency but are just reporting it differently, it's still mostly irrelevant. The numbers are how people compare, and it's one more thing the competition will use to throw in our face. And they'll be right.

However, I'm getting really tired of the "It looks like a fusion" comments.

A Fusion that added 100 pounds of muscle and caught rabies!

The only statement Im still clinging too is that this car will beat the Boss LS around a track. Hopefully they dont come back and state they were referencing the GT.........350.
